Like its predecessor, the Moab 3 is equipped with a waterproof and breathable membrane to keep our feet well defended against accidental puddle slips or light moisture. Great boot, not waterproof.
I would love to give these a higher rating because I actually really like the boot. However, if your boot has "Waterproof" in the name, it should be waterproof. These are not. First off, I love the fit of this boot. It took no time to break in. It fits really well on the foot. Great for hiking, shooting, and just walking around. I even had to run a quarter mile through O'Hare Airport in these to catch a connecting flight. I also have a pair of the low cuts for wearing to work in the winter. That being said, this mid boot is not waterproof. These are not even remotely waterproof. I took them hiking in Scotland after wearing them twice, sunk into some wet ground, submerged the toe, and that was it. Merrell, this boot has killer fit and function. However, the wateproofing is a total failure.

Stay away and save your money!!!
These waterproof boots are absolute garbage. I've worn them out 3 times in damp, ankle high grass and my feet were soaked every time. I know the difference between sweat wet and wet from outside. These were definitely wet from outside. If you want something for waterproofing, get the Goretex and stay away from these things. I'll be getting rid of these and going with a different boot.

Comfortable Fit
Very comfortable boot. Purchased now so I could have them ready for fall and winter season. Really do not need to be broken in. A great boot at a great price. Happy with purchase

Solid
I’ve had about as many Merrell boots as Jay Leno has cars and each one has been just as comfortable and durable as the previous pair. These are just the same! I have put them through the wringer and outside of the normal wear and tear, these boots are still rocking and rolling.

Definitely not WATERPROOF
Second pair of Merrells. Have had these ones for just over a year or so. Hardly used them as I have been using my Eddie Bauer hikers which had some life left in them. Pulled my Merrells out the other day and the very first bit of water (maybe 3 inches deep) soaked my foot. Not waterproof at all and since I am past the 1 year warranty period I'm out of luck for replacement.

First time hiker and now long term Merrell buyer
Never own a pair of hiking boots before and did a bunch of research and these kept coming up. Couldn't be happier. Used them on a 5 hour hike up a 3k foot Monroe in Scotland and most comfortable pair of shoes I own now

Not waterproof
Not waterproof as claimed, working outdoors in BC year round I need a good pair of solid footwear for the winter months. After a recent purchase of a pair of these was quite disappointed on the first rainy day that my feet got wet. Its not like I'm running thru rivers like I might be in my hikers( and staying dry) just working all day out doors, wet feet and cold temps in winter dont mix. Comfortable shoe and feel solid on the terrain/ground but would not recommend for a waterproof boot

A piece broke off from the outsole
We took our shoes out to Iceland. Overall they were good. But this new pair of Moab 3, a piece broke off the outsole.
