Backcountry helmets are designed to balance protection with features for remote travel, and models with active ventilation controls let you open vents while skinning and close them on cold descents. Look for integrated goggle clips, removable ear pads, and NFC Medical ID to make transitions between resort and cold-weather setups easier. In-mold constructions fuse polycarbonate to EPS for lighter all-day wear (often 200–300 g), while removable pads improve goggle compatibility and allow you to add audio or extra insulation.
