Light weight jacket

I owned a down sweater from ears ago, but needed one size up for a little more room. This redesigned jacket is not really designed for women. It appears to be big in the shoulders, about 2” too long in sleeve length, and very slim in the hip area. I’m 5’3” 125lbs and bought a medium. The jury is still out about keeping this “new design” model. I guess I’d prefer a bit more room at the bottom of the zipper . I’m not hippy and I don’t have big shoulders, but it seems the design is off for women. It’s roomy up top, but slim fit at the bottom of the zipper. I’m not built like a weight lifter with no hips.

She had previously had the Patagonia Nano Puff jacket & was getting cold in Raleigh, NC, so got her the Patagonia Down Sweater & was so much warmer. I have had the Patagonia Ultra-Light Down Jacket for 10+ years & it is still going strong. Wish they would bring that one back. Patagonia Down jackets are definitely the way to go.

I have this jacket in black and LOVE it! I wear it nonstop all winter so I ordered another one in Navy as a backup. My black one is a medium but it’s snug if I’m wearing a bulky sweater so I ordered the navy in large and it’s perfect for bulkier winter clothing.

Just too tight around the arms, shoulders. Don't really understand why the sizing would change.

I haven't worn this in the cold yet but I love the warm feel just putting it on, very soft. I ordered a small, which is the size of my Nano Puff jacket but this runs a bit smaller. The small fit but was too tight when I put a vest under it so I ordered a medium, which isn't quite as stylish on me (it's a bit bigger) but will be more practical as I can layer more under it. I'd say this product is sized like the Patagonia jacket, which I have in a medium. This is less bulky than the jacket.

Love the "dusky brown" color which is the light purple you see on the site. I'm usually between a small and a medium in tops and I got the Medium so I could wear sweaters underneath, which is a great fit! Love this jacket, lightweight and perfect for New England winters.

I have been living in this since I got it, great layering piece for the pow, and stylish jacket for a night out. Plenty of pockets on the inside, two on the outside, and is easy to pack down. I make sure to hang it up as soon as I get home to keep the insulation in pristine condition. #BackcountryGearhead

Shame on Patagonia

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I own 4 Patagonia Down Sweaters. I love them all and have recommended them to friends for many years. I decided to get one for my daughter this year. They have completely redesigned it. It should no longer have the title Down Sweater. The sleeves are now set in at an angle, the channels on the sides are larger and looser. The bottom is now angled for a narrower fit. The sleeves do not have the same band around the edges and the zipper is less rugged. I’m sure it will work as a jacket but it is not the same quality that I came to expect. Very unhappy about this. Patagonia, I expected you to do better.
