Men's Orange Vests

Puffer vests with synthetic insulation from 40–200g or down equivalents (600–800 fill) are built for sub-zero conditions and make solid mid- or outer-layer options for cold-weather hiking and skiing. Look for DWR-treated nylon shells and seam-sealed baffles to keep moisture out while you move.

A relaxed fit works best for puffer vests so you can layer base and mid-layers without feeling constrained; armholes should allow full movement. Chest ranges commonly span 36–50 inches and length usually falls at waist level or slightly below for balanced coverage.

Synthetic lightweight and hooded vests often include DWR coatings and can offer water resistance up to 10,000mm, making them suitable for travel in wet, windy conditions. Polar Fleece pieces (100–300gsm) prioritize breathability and perform better for dry, mild activities like camping or everyday layering.

Many packable puffers compress to fist-sized bundles and weigh between 8–20 oz, which makes them easy to stash in a daypack. Models like the Patagonia Nano Puff use recycled nylon ripstop and 60g PrimaLoft Gold insulation to balance warmth and packability.

Hooded lightweight vests give head and neck coverage for variable weather and work well for high-output efforts because breathable shells move moisture away from the body. For example, the Arc'teryx Atom LT Vest uses 60g Coreloft and an air-permeable shell designed to balance warmth and breathability during aerobic activities.
