The Torrentshell 3L Jacket handles all-day rain without slowing you down

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"The Torrentshell 3L is the jacket I keep stuffed in the top of my pack on any trip where the weather is a question mark. The H2No 3-layer construction handles genuine all-day rain without feeling clammy, and the underarm vents make a real difference on steep, sweaty climbs where a lesser shell would leave you soaked from the inside out. When the storm passes, it stuffs into its own pocket and clips to my harness without taking up meaningful space."

When a dark band of clouds builds over the ridge, and the wind picks up without warning, the Torrentshell 3L Jacket is already out of our pack. Patagonia built this shell around its H2No Performance Standard 3-layer membrane, pairing waterproof, breathable protection with a recycled nylon ripstop face and a PFC-free DWR finish that sheds rain without relying on harmful chemistry. At just 14 ounces, it adds almost nothing to the load until the moment it matters most.

The details hold up under real conditions. A helmet-compatible hood cinches down tight against sideways rain, underarm zip vents dump heat on steep, sweaty climbs, and an articulated fit leaves enough room to move freely over layers without feeling like a bag. When the storm breaks and the sun pushes back through, the Torrentshell stuffs into its own hand pocket and clips directly to a harness or tucks into a hip belt. For hikes, travel days, and anything in between, it is the shell that earns its place every time the sky turns uncertain.
