Best piece of gear I've had in a long time!

What an outstanding insulated hoodie! Minimal weight with excellent warmth. Very impressed with the insulation, and how small it can pack down. It's similar to down in terms of compressibility, but I like the fact that it's synthetic so moisture is less of an issue. Is perfect for cold mornings in camp and on the trail, and makes a great warm layer when temps drop. I purchased the SuperStrand vest as well, and it too is simply outstanding. Would buy again for sure. 10/10!

Almost perfect l

I've worn this jacket from November 2022, all through winter as a midlayer down to -20, as a nice puffy outer during the spring, and as a nighttime summer hoodie during this chilly Alaskan summer. This thing is sooo comfortable. It honestly feels better than a lot of down jackets I have. On that note, this is easily warmer than my other brand expensive SL down jacket for about half the price, synthetic and only a bit heavier. That's all a win for the super strand in my book. The cons are, within a few hours of taking it out and wearing it in the house, there were two holes in the right forearm.Later, the next day I foind a tear in one of the drop pockets. I have also had a good bit of filling coming out of the stiching. Only other note is they could take some material out of the middle and make it a bit more trim to layer over. I really still love this jacket and the 12D outer (I believe it is) should hold up better tha. Some of the 7D material I've used. OutdoorResearch please make this near perfect midlayer more perfect!

The insulated layer I was looking for

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm 6'3, about 235lbs and it is always hard to find a jacket that is both tall enough and large enough to fit me well without being too baggy. This hoodie is perfect. Arm length is good, long enough for my torso and comfortable without being too roomy. Warmth-wise, I bought it during summer and haven't tried it in cold temps yet, but I imagine it'll do well. Color looks great. Only minor gripe is I wish the waist had a drawstring, but it fits pretty close to me so I don't think wind will be a problem.

Warm and packable.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this jacket to stow in my backpack for during breaks on the trail skiing or hiking. I haven't had a chance to use it in winter yet, but I've been able to use it watching the kid's soccer games on cold, rainy, blustery days. It's done great, so far. It's kept me warm and fits great both as a outer layer or under a rain jacket. Comfy and packs really nicely.

Seams pop if you look at them wrong

Took it out once and came back with 2 tears in it. I contacted support about it and they said they can send me a patch for it. Some of the fill came out with the tear and the patches don't look good so that doesn't work for me. They stopped responding and never resolved the issue. I usually love outdoor research but they really dropped the ball in more ways than one on this one. I would look elsewhere for a better midlayer. I purchased a Rab as a replacement and it has been amazing.

Zipper failed after a week

Unfortunately the zipper failed after a week. Could've been just a fluke. The real let down and reason for the single star was Warranty service. Filed the claim and waited 6 weeks for a response. When filling the claim it actually tells you this is normal. Got the claim filled, had to pay out of pocket to ship back. Then waited another two months to get money put in my outdoor research account to reorder. The entire process took 3.5 months and I am still waiting on my new jacket to show up (shows "order processing") I can be ok with something having an issue but at this price point, Warranty and service is typically expected to be better. I won't order any more items from OR.

Wanted to give it 5 starts but missing key feature

This is a great lightweight jacket but it is missing an adjustment elastic around lower hem. Without it you can't synch the jacket at the bottom and big wind gusts can blow in. Great material, great construction just missing that key feature

My go to jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great jacket. Very lightweight and warm. I'm 5' 11" and 220 lbs and size L fits great. Deep pockets. I bought it as an all-purpose insulating layer and it works great. I've been wearing it by itself without a shell jacket outside in the Colorado winter and it works very well. Retains heat really well so it can get really warm when wearing it indoors.

Bad fit. Too big in the waist and midsection.

I'm male, 6' tall with an average to athletic fit build. 165lbs. I got the large. It's almost too tight in the arms when I reach forward, it binds in the back. Yet the midsection is too bulky. I can grab at least 4 inches out of the midsection before it's the correct fit. To me, this is a company catering to larger people.. Hey, if you're larger in the midsection, buy this jacket. But for me it's a disappointment. This shows me where the priorities of a company are. It's billowy enough I won't be wearing it on it's own in public. It should serve as a good midlayer despite my complaints. This is the second garmet from OR I've purchase with a bad fit. I won't be buying any more.
