Ninja Type III Personal Flotation Device

A ninja utilizes a sleek, low-profile approach for each discrete take down and the NRS Ninja Type III Personal Flotation Device isn't so different. This type III PFD features a low-profile and unobtrusive design that makes it ideal for folks with short torsos or those who often have a hard time wearing a conventionally sized PFD. Additionally, this design ensures unobstructed mobility as you paddle, row, or swim. The Ninja is equipped with four side and two shoulder adjustments for a personalized fit and feel, while the floating front panel can be easily modified to fit your shape and proportions. Additionally, this front panel offers warm respite when your hands are more akin to two meaty freeze pops than you'd like to admit.

    Be a river ninja

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This jacket is so low profile and comfortable that you'll barely notice you're wearing it. The dual panel design allows increases flexibility and provides a nice hand pocket when you don't know what to do with your hands. My only complaint is the straps are a bit long but it's only a minor issue.

    USED FOR FISHING

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

i use this PFD to row my framed raft and fish.

    pros:

Minimal profile. just one main pocket that is very useful holds a minimal fly box. comfy for all day use. The shoulder straps adjust very well for a great fit ( XXL big guy approved for fit). The range of motion is ideal for casting and for rowing.

    Great PFD!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am super impressed with this PFD after it's first trip down the river. I SUP and liked how low profile this was especially for crossing over your body with a SUP paddle. Another thing I really like about this PFD is how adjustable it is so if a friend wants to use my gear they can comfortably.

    Eh...

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Decent PFD but I found it really difficult to get a good fit. When in my kayak I find that it has a tendency to ride up on my upper torso. Also, the zipper broke on the front pocket the third time I used it. It’s perfectly serviceable but I think there’s better PFDs out there.

This is my ultimate spare PFD

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So this is quickly becoming my personal favorite but I got it initially as a spare. The adjustability is crazy good. It fits my brother who is 200 lbs and fits my girlfriend who is about 130lbs and 5'4". I wanted something that could almost fit anyone, so when I go out camping and bring along the paddles, anyone can pick up and go. Great vest!

    My favorite PFD

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had lots of PFDs over the years, but the Ninja is easily at the top of the list. I love its low-profile fit, light weight, comfort, and hand warmer pockets. It is so awesome to have complete range of motion and for your arms to not be restricted when paddling. It also does not chafe your arms. I use it for kayaking and SUP and love it. This is usually the first PFD I recommend to my customers!

    Low Pro

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is one of my favorite minimalist pfds. Especially for kayaking and paddle rafting having a pfd that does not interrupt your stroke is huge and this pfd strikes a great balance of having some creature comforts without the bulk. If you are rafting without a rescue vest this guy allows for easy access back into the boat and doesn't present the normal turtle shell effect that others do that prevents you from easily getting back into a boat. For kayaking this vest offers great flotation and stays out of the way for necessary strokes. And with available strapping on this vest it can fit a wide variety of body types.

    Good PFD

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I like it - lots of freedom of movement, great for stand-up paddleboarding. Certainly makes you sit up straight when kayaking, but not overly bulky. Nice little pocket in front for phone, glove storage, whathaveyou.

    Go Ninja Go Ninja GO

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    Vanilla Ice once said,
    "You better check your level
The power of the ninja is strong
Fightin the crooks 'til they're all gone"
I've always liked The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, but I never quite understood that lyric, that is, until today.

The power of the NRS Ninja Type III Personal Flotation Device IS strong, and with the free range of movement in this vest you could just as soon fight the crooks 'till they're all gone.

The concept for this review was here...but the follow-through left something to be desired. So I'll just say this, it has been a blast owning this PFD, it fits perfectly, it has numerous adjustment points, the unobtrusive arm design helps you really get after your paddling, and well, it works, it floats.

    Get it!

    Most comfortable pfd ever made

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this pfd play boating and rafting. I barely feels like you are even wearing a pfd because it allows for so much range of motion. It stays in place when surfing, rolling or paddling a kayak, but still has plenty of floatation if you take a swim. It's also great for rafting, especially when it is hot, because it's a comfortable to wear all day long!

    Perfect Low Profile, Simple, PFD

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had problems with low profile PFD's like this riding up on me while I kayak. This one stayed in place perfectly even while being sucked under after a gruelling swim in huge water. There was enough flotation to make me feel safe but low profile enough to never get in the way while doing tricks or even scouting rapids. The pocket in the front is big enough for a few protein bars, a little money, and some chapstick, the essentials. Being petite, it is hard for me to find gear that actually fits and this is one piece that will stay with me for a while.

    Awesome Low-Profile PFD

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I absolutely love this PFD! It's low profile, so you barely notice you're wearing it, but doesn't lack on features like a zipper pocket to store small items like a granola bar and whistle. It's also made with a super cushy foam that molds to your body making it even more comfortable the longer you wear it! Overall this is an all around AWESOME PFD that won't cost you an arm and a leg!
