Poor in the rain
Is not rain proof, shoulders and tops of arms get wet even with the wax for the price very disappointed stick to Buffalo from now on.

Basically Perfect
It's basically perfect. I can see why people unfamiliar with Fjallraven g-1000 and their philosophy around waxing might be upset that it's not giving them Gore-Tex performance, but that's exactly why I like it. I have all kinds of membranes for situations where I'm trapped in downpours, but the thing I love about this anorak is that it's breathable and durable, and if I so please, I can add wax (which ins't what I want--this is an urban jacket for me). All the details are spot on; I like the firm grip of the snap that allows you to use the size zipper to dump heat rapidly. There's no silver bullet all-situations jacket out there, so it's not the fault of this product that people have specific qualities it never attempts to pitch. I love mine, and no, will not be using it as a rain jacket.

New Favorite Jacket
This jacket is amazingly functional and I love the adaptability! The fit is relaxed but very well fitted for athletic builds. I love all the pockets and pouches and the functional sleeve buttons. Truly my new favorite jacket!!!

Great quality, looks and practicality.
Excellent. Well designed and great quality. It’s quite loose and has space to wear layers underneath. Very practical and looks great. The zipper at the side provides good ventilation and access to pocket of any garment you wear underneath. Can be waxed to retain its water resistance.. Got a feeling this one will have longevity.

Not fit for purpose, not waterproof
I bought the Vardag anorak, when I first wore it in the rain it allowed water to penetrate the garment, I bought some wax and applied it as per the recommendations, this didn't work either, it's very expensive for a rain coat that actually doesn't stop rain from soaking your clothes and skin underneath. Pretty useless and not fit for purpose, money wasted do not buy!

Well Designed, Well Made
I’ve had this anorak for nearly 2 years. Wear it often Autumn through to Spring but not on super cold days -0 or colder.. Features are excellent. A real hood! So many jackets the hood is a an afterthought. This is large enough for proper coverage, I usually wear a cap (the excellent Vidda) underneath which helps shape, and I can easily fit full over-ear headphones in there too. Great kangaroo pocket, side pockets with one with additional space for keys. Side zipper for on/off and venting. Definitely NOT waterproof, but with layers of Greenland wax I can get it showerproof. Out today for 2 hours in on/off light rain and only very slightly damp at shoulders. Extremely good in winds, and very breathable despite waxing. So what you wear either over/under this is important. You can get of course get it damp through but still stay nice and warm which is more important for me. Most Gore-Tex and similar jackets I’ve experienced usually get damp either way, and you feel like you’re walking around in a giant non environmentally friendly crisp packet, whereas the Vardag feels more natural and comfortable. I’m normally an XXL or bigger (6, 4” and large build), but this is just an XL (Olive colour) and for me, still plenty room underneath to layer, long enough sleeves and back. I like the press studs for sleeves and storm flap, all good. I’m not keen on the issued zipper tags, lost them within weeks, so put my own ones on, but I can see they are used to reduce use of plastics. I’ll simply recycle them to use on something else in years to come I’m sure. This was my first Fjallraven jacket, and I also now have the Vardag Padded version (for really cold weather) and Abisko Lite which I will review in time.

Stupid hood
I received this anorak as a gift. What idiot designed the hood. No volume adjuster on a ridiculously large hood, even with a woolly hat underneath. I can’t see where I’m going with the hood up. I have a Gutulia Anorak that I have had for many years, it is a vastly superior product, sensible hood with a draw cord and volume adjuster on the back of the hood. TheVardag Anorak just seems to be thrown together with no thought put into it except to do it as cheaply as possible. Very disappointing.

My goodness, my Vardag
My new anorak arrived today and I'm over the moon with this thing. The quality is apparent immediately. As well as the nostalgia and timelessness. I can already see it 20 years from now faded and beaten but still looking for the next adventure. What an amazing bit of kit. Anyway, on another quick note, I wanted to touch on the sizing. I'm 6ft tall and 210lbs with a muscular build, 34 waist, 48 chest. A size large is more than big enough to layer under without being too baggy with just a t-shirt. Hope this helps someone.

Great piece of kit
Usually an XL in shirts, bought a Large and it's very roomy/comfortable to allow layers underneath. Great pockets to carry binoculars, books, map, food, etc. Waxed to improve weather proofing. No complaints.
