Toddler & Infant Baselayers

A good fit is snug like a second skin without restricting movement, and sizes from 2T to 12Y should allow easy layering. Check inseams—many 2T sets list about a 13.5-inch inseam—and soft flat seams help prevent irritation on sensitive skin.

For skiing and cold-weather adventures, 200 gsm merino wool gives reliable warmth and moisture management, and Stio merino layers are built for durability on cold days. Merino also regulates temperature and resists odor when wet, making it a strong choice for multi-hour outdoor play.

Merino wool (18.9 micron, ZQ certified) excels at temperature regulation and natural odor resistance, especially in cold, wet conditions. Synthetic polyester blends wick moisture and dry faster for high-energy play, so Superlove merino works well for cozy layering while synthetics suit active days.

Check the inseam and intended fit: 2T bottoms often list around a 13.5-inch inseam and a snug, second-skin geometry keeps a child warm without bunching. Also look for soft, flat seams so leggings won’t rub or irritate during extended play.

They help a lot—flat seams and seamless constructions reduce chafing and feel gentler against delicate skin. Fabrics like cotton or bamboo and bluesign-approved materials also add softness and safer finishing for frequent washing and wear.
