Consider the typical route length and whether you need extra rope for long rappels when choosing a 40m, 60m, or 70m option.

Thinner ropes like an 8.0mm twin are great for light-and-fast alpine objectives where every gram counts and ropes can weigh as little as 45g per meter. They demand precise belaying and handling, whereas a thicker 9.8mm single offers more durability and easier handling for gym, crag, and general trad use.
