Kids Black' Harnesses

Full-body harnesses are best for younger children and those under about 40 kg because they prevent slipping during inversions or falls. Sit harnesses suit older, taller kids for indoor walls, sport, or trad routes; models like the Petzl Ouistiti target toddlers up to 30 kg.

Measure the waist, leg loops, and torso to find proper height and snugness, and make sure the harness doesn’t pinch. Most kids harnesses use 4–6 adjustable buckles and include markings like an "R" on the leg loops to help with correct donning and growth.

Look for EN 12277 and UIAA certifications, which indicate the harness meets climbing impact and stitching standards. Many kid-specific models are Type C and list body-weight limits up to 40 kg, with belay loops tested above 15 kN.

Materials like durable nylon webbing and padded foam in the waist and leg loops improve comfort during long sessions. Reliable buckles are steel or aluminum in double-back or auto-locking styles, and reinforced belay loops help the harness withstand repeated falls.

Models like the Edelrid Radialis with 6 Easy Glider buckles and an adjustable back plate work well for growth and park use. The Wild Country Movement Kids offers grow-with-you adjustability with 4 buckles and 2 gear loops, while bright belay-loop colors and upright positioning aid clipping and visibility.
