Too baggy and loose

More in bounds snowboarder feel than backcountry touring

Comfortable, bear great for backcountry

Looking for a relatively lightweight, flexible, well designed backcountry pants, and these are it!

Not that slim

I have a 35-36” waist and the ladder lock on the large won’t go small enough for me. The hook strap should be at least 1” shorter. The fit is ok in the thigh but bordering on comical below the knee. Could be much tighter and still go over big boots. Hard to imagine that these are much slimmer than the regular Recon unless those are real baggy. Material seems good. Mesh on the vents would be nice.

Lightweight,, Belt issue

The regular Recon Pants have been my workhorse resort pants for several years. Overall I've liked them and they've held up well but the cut is baggier than I need and I thought the LT's trimmer fit and lighter fabric would work better in the backcountry and they definitely do. The LT's are excellent touring friendly hard shells. They don't breathe as well as a soft shell pant but for storm days and colder weather in the backcountry the LTs perform well. My only gripe is the integrated belt has a limited range of adjustability. My 32 waist is within the listed size range for Mediums but in practice the integrated belt ladder lock doesn't let me cinch down enough. Wearing a pack with a waist belt makes this worse. If the pants had belt loops, I'd just use a belt, but they don't. I'm 6' and the length is good for my legs.

I like these, but they

I like these, but they run a bit big and you can’t cinch down the belt past the ladder lock notches. Also, the pants are very long. They’re great, but those two issues are annoying

Light Weight, Water Proof, and Stretch

Ordered these for spring touring and so far have used on a handful of short tours and a few long full day tours and they have been awesome. They are light weight and not restrictive at all when skiing, riding, or ascending. The vents have been great as the day heats up. Definitely would buy again and recommend!

Solid touring pant

Overall quite a good shell layer. Comfortable on the uphill and downhill. The ladder buckle is really nice no bunching even when I have it strapped down pretty tight. I wish the beacon pocket wasn't so bulky or was removable you can feel it while you are moving. I always wear my beacon on a chest harness so I won't ever get any use out of it. The pants are a bit short for me, not enough to cause problems but wish there was a bit more flexibility in the sizing

Impressed so far

Despite my general preference for softshells in most conditions, I finally added these hardshell pants to my quiver for wet/cold/nasty days in the mountains. Fit is tailored and well thought out for range of motion and fit over boots (especially in walk mode); fit/finish seems quite impressive; weight and fabric feel is light and stretchy. For reference, I'm 5'11" 143lb and the small fits well. Breathability and moisture protection have proved quite impressive so far. My only gripes are that I wish the neoprene beacon holster in the right pocket was removable, since it's bulky to the point of being noticeable when moving (I only wear mine on my chest anyway) and I wish BD included regular belt loops so skinny guys like me could add some extra support (my ladder lock is maxed out). Time will tell as far as durability, but overall these seem like winners for those seeking lightweight and functional touring pants.
