Didn’t Work

They weren’t compatible with my original speedplay pedals.

I’ve been using Speedplay pedals

I’ve been using Speedplay pedals for years. Love them. I like these clips. I live in cornfield country. So when I ride, I stop in the small town fuel station to top off my water bottle. These clips makes walking inside for the water so much better

Very, very difficult clip in and out.

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I’ve been using Speedplay pedals since 2003. The Wahoo standard cleats are very different. They are extremely difficult to clip into and to unclip. I rate them as dangerous as unclipping in an emergency requires anticipating using lots of extra force to unclip. I don’t recommend. They should be recalled.

Near Perfection

I ride 120+ miles per week. The new cleats replaced a pair that were several years old. They were super easy to install. Spring tension seemed overly firm for the first ride, but I quickly got used to it. The new cleats better for walking - no more digging up wooden floors! Highly recommended.

Don’t get these if you have Speedplay-created pedals - Wahoo created incompatibility!

Unfortunately, Wahoo slightly changed the design of speedplay pedals and cleats, which I did not know before ordering these. Since I have multiple sets of Speedplay-created speedplay pedals on bikes and the new cleats do not work well with those, the purchase of these cleats was unfortunately a waste of money. I wish I had known about the incompatibility in advance (not to mention what a bad decision it was for wahoo to create that incompatibility!)

Upgrade your Speedplay experience

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Wahoo has taken all the negative aspects of the Speedplay cleat system and redesigned them out. After a brief break in these cleats are amazingly reliable and durable as well as comfortable to walk on.

Upgraded design. Misleading tension descriptor.

The cleats work well and I love the built in plastic covers, so walking is quieter and safer than the original Speedplay cleats. My only gripe is that "standard tension" is significantly stiffer than my old cleats. Thankfully I was able to disengage on the third attempt and didn't hit the pavement.

Cleats feel cheap and sloppy.

The quality of the cleat seems to have dropped off in the past few years. While the cleat covers have advanced to a point they are AWESOME the cleat itself now feels "cheap" and the way it engages and disengages is not crisp like in the past... they feel "sloppy" I never had this issues with cleats up until the past year.

They’re cleats. How excited can

They’re cleats. How excited can you get? Make sure to lubricate before each ride

Not what they used to be

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Since Wahoo bought Speedplay the tolerances on the cleats has changed. Every time I replace the cleats at least one of the screws strips. This never happened when Speedplay owned the company. I wish Wahoo would revise these to their previous quality.
