Your Tepui tent could use a front porch.

You're already planning on spending most of your summer nights camped in your Tepui roof top tent, so you'd might as well add a canopy to the equation to make your setup feel a bit more homey. This rolling awning attaches directly to your roof rack, or to your Tepui tent and rolls into the included PVC cover once you're ready to hit the road.

    Surprising

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is a sweet awning for the money, but for the money the parts are definitely not super burly/robust. Not something you want to abuse, but so far I'd say as long as you take good care of it and use with care then it should last a good long time. Most importantly, it has seriously outperformed my expectations for the sort of wind it can stand up to. I left it up overnight in a crazy wind storm. Probably a stupid idea, considering the legs could have bent/broken and even slammed into my truck and scratched it up. However... it didn't budge at all. I don't recommend pushing the limits too far, but I can vouch that it's a pretty solid setup that can handle some rough weather. Haven't even had it in rain yet for a full test, but was so impressed by the wind performance I wanted to write a review.

    Hmmm....

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I purchased a brand new 6ft grey awning from Backcountry a few weeks ago. It came quickly. The awning itself had a bent pole, which made it difficult to extend out. I tried bending it back into place, but no luck. I contacted Backcountry and they were very quick to get me out a new one, which was nice. Unfortunately they sent me a used one that had been previously used. It was dirty and scratched up upon arrival. Not quite sure how you can sell someone a new awning for 310 dollars, yet send them an old used one. It is what it is and I’m just thankful to have the shade, but I would refrain from making big purchases from them, if this is the type of gear they end up sending you.

As far as the awning, I like it. It’s not heavy duty, so you need to be careful with it. It’s not built for off roading.

    Happy Camper

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got this addition for the Tacoma camping setup and love it so far. I've used it a couple of times and it works wonders on a hot day with the sun beating you down. Easy setup and take down as well.

    Just what I needed

Great awning. Easy to install and set up. Slides right in to the Tepui tent rack mounts, but able to be mounted alone, too. Nice and durable, and provides great shade for hot Summer days.

    Everything I wanted

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is everything you'll want with a car awning. Covers a large area, easy set up, with mosquito net attachment, and very easy to unfold and put away. The only thing I will knock them for is the setting up of the awning L bracket and instruction manual. Does not give you very detail instructions on how to install it. I have Thule square cross bars and there is really only one way to install it other than using the Tepui tent tracks on my tent, which is to drill two holes in each cross bar and buy large screws to put through to the other side. It seems like a DIY installation if you don't have a really nice roof rack setting. Other than that, AWESOME! Can't wait to use it this spring.

    Shade

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Great additional to your Tepui tent, especially if you are a desert rat. I got this as a selfish gift for someone we camp with so that we could have some guaranteed shade on outdoor adventures.

    Great So Far

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I just installed this on my Tacoma , attached to a Prinsu rack with awning brackets. So far I've just testing it, but easy to setup and install. i'll report back with more details once I'm able to use it.

    Mixed feelings

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was so stoked to finally get one of these as I have heard great things about Tepui, sadly my experience was less than desired. Upon opening the box and unzipping the cover there were plastic pieces floating around, discovering that both the female and male buckle were broken. The sharp pieces had torn a hole in the canopy and the cover as well.

I contacted Tepui for warranty with detailed pics and copy of receipt. They only agreed to send out a replacement buckle and patch kit. So now im left patching brand new product that I have not even used yet. Patching is nothing new to me in the outdoor world, stuff happens, things rip. But that usually after use or by my own mistake and I have no problem taking care of it. Im honestly just disappointed that I received damaged product and Tepui's solution was less than favorable to the consumer.

    Super Awesome

The Tepui Awning is a great option for someone needing some shade in a car camping situation. I particularly find it useful in desert camping mode where there is not shade/trees to help keep that heat off.

      Mounted to the motorhome.

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

When the factory awning on my motorhome bit the dust, I opted to not spend thousands on replacing it and installed this instead. It's a good size and is easy to use. I don't use it a ton, but it's nice to have it there for a bit of shade or rain protection when grilling out. Definitely a good purchase.

      Unanswered Question

Which length awning is featured in the product photo, mounted to the Outback? 4ft, or 6ft?
