Why We Like The Salomon Speedcross 6 Wide Trail Running Shoe

Just when we thought Salomon's legendary trail runner couldn't get any better, the Speedcross 6 Wide Trail Running Shoe features minor tweaks for a more rugged build that lightens the scale and releases our stride. The new tight-knit upper blocks out grime and holds strong against daily wear along overgrown trails, while the fine-tuned sole releases mud as we go to retain optimal grip atop soft earth. Plus, this pair's wide design gives our broader feet room to splay and flex for optimal comfort through double-digit miles.

terrible design was that long thing sticking out

Please get the design back for speed cross 3 speed cross 4 in the wide size, this new design is terrible it hits your leg with every step that thing sticking out so high is so horrible it's hard and it's going to create a lot of problems for ladies. I had to return two pairs as I tried at home just for a few minutes and that thing is just feels like it goes inside the back of the leg!

Great for high arch

I bought these a year ago. They are my go to shoes working as a nurse 12 hours at the hospital. The first I found that don't leave me in pain at the end of the day.

Second pair of Speedcross 6

I bought my first pair of these boots several years ago and loved them. There are very few truly wide toe boxes on boots out there so I quickly bought them when a friend recommended them. Over the years my foot has grown a bit where I had to size up and was so glad these boots were still in production. Highly recommend for anyone with painful feet.

Speed cross 6 wide

I’ve had these shoes about a month or so. They’re comfortable. I like the wide toe box. This makes the shoe fit well. The price was good. I bought a spare pair. This brand fits my feet well and the shoes are helping my Morton’s neuroma in one foot. I wish the shoes came in other colors besides purple. Black would be nice. And I wish this brand had more wide shoes to choose from.

Good Wide Hiking Shoe

I was looking for a WIDE toe box hiking shoe. This one was the only one Salomon recommended. I have worn them on a couple of hikes. I would say they are great in water or mud, however I don't think the top is Gortex because it got weather dirty. Also I like the lacing system, BUT once you tighten the laces its HARD to get the extra lace into the little pocket under the tightened laces.

My goto shoe

Just bought my 4th pair of these. Great tread, fits snug, giving my feet supreme support. I use them for am power walk on sidewalks, so I wear them out faster than if I used them on trails. Also my day shoe for errands. Fabulous in airports and travel.

20 year purchaser and running!

Punn intended, but yes, I've actually been purchasing Salomon for nearly 20 years and wouldn't wander off from these amazing shoes. Their comfort and performance exceeds expectations.

Love these shoes

Great fit, great grip on surfaces. No breaking in period, rubbing or blisters. Super thrilled with these so far! I haven’t had them long enough to have an opinion on durability but will update my review at a future date.

Could Improve

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I've been wearing this model of the speedcross since they released the wide-width. The durability of the shoe has drastically decreased, and they still haven't made the shoes waterproof like the normal speedcross sizes. Why? I've worn these shoes for trail running, peak bagging, and anything not on pavement. Generally I am pleased with the grip, fit, etc. Most recently I climbed a larger peak but nothing super technical, and my newest speedcross were about 2 weeks out of the box. The entire sole was ripped to shreds by the time I was back to the car. That's never happened before, but I was so disappointed. The talus wasn't anywhere near what I've encountered while wearing prior versions of the shoe...so maybe it's just a lemon? Anyway. My husband has the speedcross as well, and it's annoying that he can do water crossings and not get his feet soaked, while I have almost the same shoe and my feet are soaked. That's probably my biggest complaint -- for the price and model they can't make the wide width waterproof?
