Beautiful jacket but I swim in it

Been searching for a rain jacket that wasn't athletic cut/fit. I question if I got a mislabeled item - the shoulder seams are 3" past my shoulders. It's all-over too large.

I always wanted my own Patagonia jacket. I love my husband's torrent shell and another windbreaker piece he has. However, they are huge on me, nonetheless I borrow them for dog walks and rainy coastal days sometimes. I had gotten Patagonia fleece and vest before but I found their styles for women tend to be narrow at the hips. So I considered getting something and just sizing up. The time came when I actually needed a rain jacket, (when I am not borrowing my husbands I had a cute 3/4 rain trench by Uniqlo that began peeling in the lining after a few years). I saw this oversized one and was delighted! At the time that I looked, there were few reviews online for this jacket. And the reviews were a tad conflicting. Some saying way too oversized, some saying true to size: 50/50. I chickened out on the oversized and got the small (I am usually somewhere between a small and medium in most things), but small didn't work. The size small body is oversized and good. I'd say slightly oversized body. Enough to fit layers underneath for sure, but the hood and sleeves were DEFINITELY a small. The hood made me feel like a pee head. The sleeves stopped right before the heel of my hand and any raising of the arms exposed my wrists. For rainy weather I want more hood and more arm/some hand coverage. So I returned and got the medium and its a true to oversized fit. The body is oversized but not obscenely huge. The sleeves cover the heel of my hands, the hood is comfortable. I am 5'6. 145 lbs, 32DD, with an athletic, build. I highly recommend this jacket. Rainy season is over, but I did get to wear it out once so far, and I got instant compliments. It's a classic. I look forward to many rainy seasons with it. I kind wish I had gotten the Sienna color. But I wasn't sure the tone would be right for me. I got the green.
