Threadless Nut Setter

Setting a star-nut into a fork is a bit tricky without the proper tools, so reach for the Park Tool Threadless Nut Setter instead of trying to wrangle a quick fix to do the job. The inside of your star-fangled nut threads onto the bottom of the nut setter, making it easy to keep straight, and the oversized handle keeps you from pinching fingers in the process of hammering things together. This model is designed for 1-inch and 1-1/8-inch headset systems.

Like a batman movie

I've used it several times

Smack Crack and Bam the star nut is installed. The tip that threads into the star nut is replaceable should you break it off. The only thing that could make the tool better would be a guide for starting out straight.

Precision Smashing

I've used it several times

Pretty obscure tool... but if you need it you need it. For me this was the last remaining tool I needed to be able to build my bikes without a trip to the bike shop. Technically there's a nicer version of this tool that has a guide to keep the star nut straight... but I have used this style tool many times and it always levels it out in the end anyway so I don't really see the point in the other tool. If you find yourself assembling new bikes, or at least new forks, 1 or more times a year then I would say this is a great addition to your work bench.

Nice to have when building new bikes.

An Adequate Tool for Occasional Use

I've put it through the wringer

This star nut setter isn't great but is affordable and gets the job done. A nicer setter will have a guide to make sure the star nut goes in straight, on this you you have to be careful in your tapping. If you're just doing this once in a while the affordability of this tool makes it worthwhile to have in your toolbox.
