Not just for bicycle tubes
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
These patches work great to repair a hole in a down coat. I am an avid cyclist as well as a mountaineer. I am tough on my gear and often rip a small hole in my down coat, and the patches will stop the feathers from flying. I also use these patches as a short term fix to my bicycle tube. They will get you home but I would replace the tube rather than hoping the patch holds.

Will get you home
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These have bailed me out a couple times with minor punctures, but the last one was impressive. I used one to cover a 1/4" cut on the tread of my rear tire, and rode home literally on it. I screwed up a new route and got stuck riding some singletrack on my road bike. On 30-32 Roubaix tires, so I figured I would be ok. I had my fun, then checked the tires after and found a cut right in the center. The casing was fine, but I knew the cut would grow and something would eventually fail. Without a better option I slapped one of these over the cut, on the outside of the tire. I rode over 20 miles home on it, both paved and dirt roads. It didn't come loose or wear through. I was shocked. Obviously not a permanent fix, but it got me home, and that's what I needed. They're quick, cheap, and come in a tiny package. Definitely worth sticking a pack in your bag.

When all else fails
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I ride tubeless but always ride with an extra tube and bacon strips. The third line of defense are these essential patches. Plus, they are an easy way to fix the kids' tubes. Don't play around with glue and patches, get these.
