    Nikwax...mmmm...warm and dry...mmmmm

Assuming your old gloves don't yet reek of palm-sweat and aren't disintegrating at the seams, renew their life with Nikwax Glove Proof. This magical substance restores or even creates waterproofing for your beat-down leather or fabric gloves. Safe for Gore-Tex, eVENT, and Sympatex, Glove Proof will keep your mitts warm and dry far longer when applied to a new pair of gloves to boot. 4.2 fl. oz. (125 ml)

    It Works

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a great product to help boost the waterproofing on your gloves, and increase their overall longevity. I wouldn't say this makes them entirely waterproof- say if you submerged your gloves in a tank of water, it would eventually still get through. However, it will renew the gloves waterproofing, and makes for a great application on winter gloves. It is super easy to apply- it WILL drip if you apply a bunch, so just be conscientious when/where you use it.

    Great for leather gloves

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I used this stuff on my Stoic Forge leather gloves, and the result was great. The leather now feels almost completely waterproof, and water beads right off when it's under a faucet. I've taken them skiing a few times since, and I've never had problems with soggy gloves or water soaking the leather (I saw this start to happen to the gloves a couple times before I used the Nikwax). Easy to apply too! A great way to revive an overused pair of gloves.

    seems to work as advertised

i can only really speak to the application and a less than thorough testing.

it's easy to apply, but it drips off the gloves when applied liberally. i put some goat skin work gloves under the kitchen faucet briefly after the nikwax dried and the water ran off in parts, but not so much in others. i'm not sure why; the liquid went on uniformly. maybe it's bc these gloves were pretty worked beforehand.

    Just for you to know

It will make the shell of a water proof clove go back to be waterproof. if the glove is NOT water proof it will be ONLY snow proof!!!!

i use it more then one time

Nikwax doesn't disappoint. This stuff is great. Brought my mitts back to brand new. It left a little haze on my black leather palms but that doesn't bother me. It actually helps with the grip. My only complaint is the applicator. Its a weird brush on the end that doesn't really dispense allot of the product. I found my self pushing it in with my finger to get it going.

      Unanswered Question

I want to treat some Arcteryx gloves that have leather palms with something that will protect the leather and help with waterproofing when wet. I can't figure out which Nikwax product to use - Glove Proof or a Waterproofing Wax for Leather?

I have the OR Alibi II Gloves, that are not made of a fully waterproof material. Would this glove proof be a good application to make the OR gloves waterproof?

The face fabric of your gloves might not be fully waterproof but the Gore-Tex liner is so your fingers shouldn't be getting wet from outside moisture. If you do want to make that face fabric waterproof this Glove Proof should work fine.

Can I use this on the leather palms of my BD mitts or do I have to buy the glove wax as well?

Hey I can't decide what will work better for waterproofing and extending the life of my leather ski gloves, this product or Nikwax Creme Waterproofing Wax for Leather NIK0059. My gloves do have some synthetic on the wrist part which would be nice to have waterproof but is definitely not necessary. They are 90% leather and I'm most concerned with the actual leather care as both seem to waterproof equally.

I have a pair of POW Leather Gloves. Would I wash these in Tech Wash before I treat them with the Glove Proof? I realized my gloves were not fully proofed after a rainy day on the mountain and it was completely soaked...

If the gloves are clean you shouldnt have to, but if you used them in the dirt or with salt ect ect just wipe them down with water. I have learned that you apply Glove Proof heavy, soak them with GP and wait then wipe the extra off.

How many gloves can you proof?

Hey Dan:I work at Nikwax; we deal with these questions daily. I recommend you wash them before treating them, since dirt attracts water. Once you treat them, you can continue to wash them in Tech Wash and not decrease the DWR or Glove Proof effectivness. You should be able to treat 3-4 pair.BenBen Ben
