Ride like a boarder, tour like a skier.

Even the proudest splitboarder has to admit that skiers have a major advantage when it comes to touring—or at least they did until Karakoram came along. As part of their mission to improve every aspect of splitboarding, Karakoram realized a major disadvantage of splitboarding was a lack of lateral support on the uphill when compared with hardbooted skiers. They addressed this problem with the innovative Flex Lock. With a simple flick of a level, it greatly increases lateral support to help you maintain leverage when sidehilling on icy skintracks. When you're ready to ride down, just flick the lever back and get ready to kick out those methods.

    • Enhances lateral support while skinning
    • One-flip operation makes it quick and easy to use
    • Works with all Karakoram bindings since 2012

    Makes a difference

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I ended up getting these after trying to keep up with some skiers on difficult side-hilling.

At first I was kind of mad because the price seems really high for what you get---a special piece of plastic that fits the back of your binding, another special piece of plastic that goes against the boot, and a string. You also just mount them by slipping the string under the ankle ratchet screw, which seems very kludgey.

However, they do make a *big* difference when it comes to being able to exert force on your edges! When I forget to flip them on and do it mid-hill, I can feel the additional stiffness kick in and start to help me put pressure on my edges. I can keep up with the skiers much better.

As much as I still feel like I paid a lot of money for a string...they do work!

Can you mount the flex-lock on the voile light rail for the same effect (greater edge control)?
