Combining the robust quality we've come to expect from the original with a sleek, all-black look, the Continental Gatorskin Black Edition Tires are still for the urban cyclist whose daily commute consists of mile after mile of roughshod roads, but also appreciates a striking aesthetic. The Gatorskins feature two distinct layers of puncture protection: a Duraskin mesh at the sidewalls to prevent cuts, and a dense, PolyX breaker under the tread to protect against direct punctures and road debris. From wet, wintry conditions to gravel-strewn, pothole-ridden roads, this tire leads you confidently into battle.

Nearly Nuke Proof
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Ive put many many miles on these Gatorskin clinchers. I ride a combination of tarmac and rough, beat up back roads. I have punctured once. I was descending and hit a pot hole significantly hard which caused a pinch puncture on my tube. Ive run over glass, throns etc with these and was safe from punctures. I dont think any tire out there could have saved me from a puncture from the pot hole i hit, so i dont really fault the tire itself...aka my fault. Easy to get on and they run reasonably close to size when in diameter when inflated.

really disappointed with this tire. 1 tire is not round so every time it comes around it thumps. i tried it with different rims and tubes but still the same. i expected better from continental.

Maybe not the lightest?

But it?s ?Bulletproof? on having flats. Handles well on beat up sharp bump-asphalt trails and tolerable of rolling rough gravel on secondary roads. As a crossover-use tire even in the wet we?re Very Impressived, still gripped very well on rain-drenching downhill mountain asphalt trails at speed.) Doesn?t need a lot of manufacturer minimal psi to preform best. Folding bead easy to change-out without tools. Offered ?Black Edition? is a plus in sidewall looks dept?only possible cons?it does maybe wear a little faster? Add top-off air every few days. Highly recommend wouldn?t use anything else for our biking applications. Leaves me at home to do maintenance not on roads/trails.

Amazing
I?ve been riding on these tires for the last 5 years. Great traction in wet conditions. It wears evenly. I ride about 4,000 plus miles a year and I?ve never had a problem with them. I recommend it.

"Holes" are wear indicators
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I had read previous reviews on Amazon that there were complaints of holes on the tires. I inspected prior to install and saw that mine had them too. I contacted Continental's customer service and they quickly replied indicating that the "holes" are wear indicators and do not have any impact to performance. I only have about 100 miles on them currently, but they've performed well and I'm confident on pavement and gravel.
