Beige Triathlon / TT Bike Brake Levers

If your courses are dry and you want the most aero setup, rim brake levers on road-style rims keep handlebars clean and blades horizontal for aero posture. For wet conditions or high-power efforts, a hydraulic disc like the TRP HD-T910 gives stronger modulation and stopping power.

Mount levers using the proper wedges or low-profile clamps designed for a 20mm inner diameter, and snug them evenly to avoid point loads. Take care not to over-tighten on carbon bars and use minimal torque to prevent splitting.

Yes — carbon fiber lever blades shave weight and allow aero shaping, while alloy options like the Controltech Time Zone TT Lever offer a minimalist, durable design at about 170g per pair. Consider whether shaving grams or a more robust forged alloy grip better fits your priorities.

Start by fine-tuning cable tension with the built-in barrel adjusters and check that the centered springs are correctly set with their grub screws. If cables still feel soft, re-evaluate routing for kinks and consider a stiffer housing or a hydraulic option.

For wet alloy rims, pads like Kool Stop Salmon are tuned for wet stopping, while carbon compound pads perform better with tubular carbon rims. If you run hydraulics such as the TRP HD-T910, pair them with pads recommended for your rotor and expected conditions.
