Men's Purple Ski Gloves & Mittens

Measure palm width and finger length and aim for a close, contoured fit that minimizes bulk; sizes typically run from XS to XXL. Try gloves on over a thin liner glove so you can layer wool liners or removable liners without losing dexterity.

Short-cuffs work best if you plan to wear gloves under a jacket or during aerobic activities, while long-cuff gauntlet styles seal over sleeves for wet, windy storms. For a balance of weatherproofing and versatility consider models like the Arc'teryx Fission SV that are built for varied mountain conditions.

Think about activity and temperature: full-fingered gloves give the dexterity you need for photography or gear handling in moderate conditions, mittens trap heat for extreme cold, and 3-finger/lobster hybrids balance warmth with grip for touring or storm skiing. For top cold-weather option, models like the Black Diamond Mercury Mitt pack 340g PrimaLoft Gold insulation and are aimed at brutal conditions.

Waterproof-breathable membranes like Gore-Tex combined with taped seams offer the best protection, and look for hydrostatic ratings in the 10K–20K mm range with breathability around 10K–15K g/m²/24hr. Vents, pit zips, and long-cuff gauntlet designs also help manage moisture and keep snow from entering the cuff.

Models designed with pre-curved fingers and articulated construction reduce bunching and improve natural grip, and leather outserts on the palm add abrasion resistance without killing dexterity. If you want premium feel and control, the Hestra Army Leather Gore-Tex 5 Finger is noted for durable goat/cow leather and high dexterity suited to fast-paced use.
