Measure your child’s foot and leave about a thumb’s width (roughly 1/2 inch) of extra room so toes can grow and wiggle. Fasten the straps or closures snugly so the sandal stays on without pinching as they move.

For water use, pick sandals with EVA footbeds and rubber outsoles or neoprene uppers since those materials dry quickly and resist salt and chlorine. A grippy rubber sole helps prevent slips on wet surfaces while remaining lightweight.
