For racing you’ll often favor a longer reach and lower stack for a more aggressive position, whereas endurance frames raise stack height to promote an upright posture and comfort. Pay attention to seat tube angles around 73–76° and head tube angles in the 70–74° range since those numbers influence pedaling position and stability.

Step-through frames give the easiest mounting and dismounting thanks to a low or absent top tube, which is great for frequent stops and casual city riding, while foldable frames prioritize compactness for tight storage and multi-modal transit. Think about how often you’ll carry the bike or tuck it into an apartment or train when choosing between the two.

eMTB frames are engineered to handle motor assistance and extra torque, so they often use beefed-up aluminum or reinforced carbon layups and stronger rear triangles for durability on rough terrain. Models like Specialized’s aluminum mountain frames show how manufacturers tune geometry and structure for powered off-road use while keeping trail performance in mind.

Look for tunable carbon layups that stiffen the bottom bracket while adding compliance at the seat stays, a tapered head tube for precise steering, and integrated cable routing to clean up aerodynamics; high-end carbon race frames can weigh around 800 g.
