Nathan Hike & Camp

Frequently Asked Questions

• What activities is the Nathan Pinnacle 12L Hydration Race Vest best suited for?

The Pinnacle 12L is designed for trail running, ultras, long training runs, and all-day mountain adventures where a 12L gear capacity and integrated hydration matter. Its skin-like, contoured fit and chimney back panel deliver breathability and zero-bounce stability even when fully loaded, while the 1.6L insulated bladder and 13 exterior pockets keep fluids and essentials organized and accessible.
• How does the Nathan Pinnacle 12L compare to the Trailmix 12L Pack?

Both the Pinnacle 12L and Trailmix 12L share a 12L capacity and hydration integration, but the Pinnacle is race-focused with a tighter, hourglass-shaped fit, magnetic hose dock, and streamlined harness for minimal bounce during fast efforts. The Trailmix 12L is positioned as a more trail-to-hike versatile pack with a slightly different pocket layout and comfort tuning for mixed-use days rather than pure race performance.
• How should I size Nathan’s 12L vests for the best fit?

Sizing is based on chest measurement: S (36–38"), M (39–41"), L (42–44"), XL (45–47"), and the vests are intended to fit snugly for even weight distribution. Use your chest measurement as the primary guide, account for any base layers you’ll wear, and fine-tune fit with the adjustable sternum straps and buckles to eliminate jostle without restricting breathing.
• What organization and storage features does the Pinnacle 12L include?

The Pinnacle 12L offers 13 exterior pockets including two zippered front pockets with tightening cords, two mini Velcro top gel pockets, kangaroo side pockets, a large back slip pocket, a zippered secure back pocket, and a vertical pole pocket for trekking poles. This mix of pocket sizes plus a dedicated insulated bladder sleeve and magnetic hose dock keeps gels, phone, layers, poles, and hydration separated and quick to reach.
• Is the hydration system on the Pinnacle 12L insulated and compatible with soft bottles?

Yes, the Pinnacle ships with (or supports) a 1.6L hourglass-shaped insulated bladder that is BPA-free compatible and designed to keep liquids cooler longer, and the magnetic hose dock helps prevent bounce. The harness also accepts soft bottles in front pockets for quick sips while running.
