Helio Fixed Length Carbon Ski Poles

Black Diamond isn't going to pair its brand-new touring and mountaineering ski collection with any old pole. New for this year, the Helio Fixed Length Carbon Ski Poles are just as lightweight and stiff as their namesake. An innovative inflation molding device makes these poles the lightest that Black Diamond has ever made. BD integrated an extended grip directly into the pole that helps you choke down on steeper ascents. Another new innovative to the Helio is a stiffened basket that has a hooking point for switching heel risers faster.

Broke my first day out

One of the poles broke in half during a simple pole plant on my very first day of use. They may be light, but they are frail and useless.

Light and bomber. Never going back now.

I've put it through the wringer

Well into my second season w these poles. I?m not really a touring nerd, weight-weenie kinda skier, more 50/50 w as many resort days as touring. They serve me extremely well in various conditions. Been well used and lovingly abused. Took some getting used to, as I couldn?t tell if I was holding poles at first - sans straps for me. Imma thinking I?ll grab a second pair for storage since they?re still on sale? Would hate for these to be discontinued and force me back to lugging around something heavier. =)

Very light, very fragile

These feel too good to be true. And they are. Both my wife and I bought them and both our sets broke after a few uses. Mine broke while clipping out of my skis right above the tip. Her's broke right in the middle when she fell. I'd say they are good option for when you need the lightest gear, but then, when do you need the lightest gear and don't need it to work? Just don't bother.
