Nivia 3D Finder Avalanche Beacon routes straight to a signal
The Nivia 3D Finder Avalanche Beacon reads standard 457 kHz signals like any transceiver on the market, then layers its own GPS-based coordinate system on top to route straight toward a buried signal instead of tracing the curved magnetic field lines other beacons rely on. That GPS layer removes the zigzagging and cross-search pattern a flux-line search normally demands, guiding a rescuer directly toward the probing point once within range. Every second matters in a live search, and this beacon's third-party compatibility means it works alongside any other transceiver already in a group's kit.
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I've run companion searches on flux-line beacons where I lost seconds circling back after an arrow jump, and the Nivia 3D Finder Avalanche Beacon just points and goes. The straight-line route to the probing point cuts out the guesswork I used to build into every drill."

Nivia
3D Finder
Straight-Line Rescue Routing
Inside The 3D Finder

3D Coordinate System
The 3D finder generates its own localized coordinate system and calculates the buried victim's exact position inside it. A point rather than a bearing means no cross-searching and no bracketing, and lab data puts the search at up to 30% faster.

Rechargeable Cells
A lithium-ion cell runs up to 300 hours on one charge and refills over the same USB-C cable as a phone. Topping up before a tour is the same habit as charging any other piece of kit you carry.

Emergency Phone Power
A dead phone can draw charge straight from the beacon, enough to place a call for help. Phone charging stops once the beacon drops to 60% and will not start below it, so there is always enough to search.

Universal Beacon Compatibility
The 3D finder transmits on 457 kHz, the international standard, so any beacon on the mountain can find it. A 70-meter search strip width, measured to ICAR AVA REC 0007, covers a debris field in fewer passes.

One-Button Control
One red button handles marking in a multiple burial, group checks at the trailhead, and initial setup. Marking a second burial takes the same press as the first, so the sequence holds as the search gets harder.

Add A Shovel And Probe
Avalanche rescue takes all three tools, and a beacon on its own only finds the burial. The package pairs the 3D finder with a 280 cm seven-part probe and an anodized aluminum shovel on an extendable shaft.

Engineered To Find Faster
Nivia is a brand of Rosenberger Hochfrequenztechnik, a German radio-frequency engineering firm, created to bring that signal expertise to avalanche rescue. Instead of refining the classic beacon search, the brand rethinks it entirely, so the gear stays intuitive when the pressure is highest.
