Good for staying warm, but beware ankle bulkiness
I live in very cold Canada (-20 to -35 celsius from December through February), and like to get out to run, skate, hike, etc. I have had the base 3.0 for a couple of years, but found that it wasn't quite enough - especially the days that were in the -20's, and I didn't want to wear my bulky snow pants to run or skate. I bought the base layer 4.0 in the fall of last year, and have used them, along with snow pants, in -40 weather for some hikes - and I was so warm!! Also have used them along with lighter layers to skate, and they're pretty good down to about -25 with minimal layers on top. My biggest complaint, as others have found, is that the material around the ankles is very bulky. This then bunches up under the skates or boots, and is very uncomfortable. With the 3.0, I never had that problem. Would be great if UA could fix that for their future modifications of the product.

Mom on the go
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have four kiddos in many sports. These are amazing to keep me warm! I can always add another layer onto to for extra insulation! My husband stole them to hunting, and LOVES them! Our teen has stolen them during snowstorms. They are an all around AMAZING purchase! Looking into getting all four kiddos and my husband a pair. I am 5’2 and 190lbs got the large at first. Then, I exchanged them for the xl which fit my waist better, but are baggy in my legs. My husband is 5’6 and 155 he loves the way they fit (he doesn’t like anything loose.) our daughter is 5’4.5” and 150 they for her well. She has thicker legs than I do and they fit her like a true glove! I hope this helps with sizing!

Warm and Not Too Thick
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These were perfect for a early winter trip to CO! They're thick enough to retain warmth and can be warn alone and yet thin enough to be a base layer under pants. I would highly recommend. They don't have any thick lining. So, you don't have to worry about sizing up. They are perfect as-is!

Cold gear 4.0
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased these 4.0 cold gear bottoms for deer hunting in Arkansas where we can get some pretty cold days. They work great under my hunting pants. Will definitely purchase more!

Comfortable and warm.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very comfortable without waistband digging in. Warm enough for cold temps but not prolonged and bitter cold. At times it gets <-40 Celsius here and these are good for short periods outside, under your clothes. These also don’t make me itchy

Fit Great but not optimum for cold
Bought to take with me on a winter trip. They fit and look great. However, they did not keep my legs as warm as another brand in subzero weather.

Fit is Wrong
I had the old version of these leggings, and asked for a new pair for Christmas. I will sadly have to return. They are baggy from the mid-calf down. Like... extremely baggy. This totally defeats the ability to retain body heat so this seems like a major design flaw. I ordered an XS so there is no way to size down.

Would the 4.0 work well for down hill skiing? Standing in lift lines and riding the lift fit the little to no activity, so maybe? Also, is the leg wide enough to sit at the top of the boot? I don’t like pants in the boot.

I want to run in the winter and I can’t decide on 3.0 or 4.0? We have high cold winds usually around 20 or 30 wind gusts. Which one is better
