For a touch of stability that doesn't feel like a brick underfoot, we lace up the MTN Racer 2. The added external heel counter locks our feet over the platform for a stable ride, while the firmer cushioning under our arch staves off collapse. Now with a full-length ZipFoam midsole, our landings are softer and our toe offs are even more powerful.

Felt every rock, wide toe box
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I'm miffed at this purchase. Its a wider toebox than most TOPO which some might need, but there was nothing locking my foot into the shoe so my foot shifted in the shoe during my run, no matter how tight i laced it. The upper was a semi-hard plastic, and though more breathable, whenever i would push off, the upper bent into the top of my foot which made that part sore after running for so long. I really wanted to love these, and thought the lugs would help protect my feet from rocks and roots, but i felt every single rock underfoot as if it was a minimalist shoe. What's sad is, I took this out for 2 runs, and can't return it because i think it looks used 'enough'. So here i am paying on a shoe i will not wear because it does not protect my feet on a technical trail. I love a lot of the other TOPO shoes, just not this one.

Nice but does not wear well
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These are ok for hiking shoes but the lining near the inner top part of the opening has torn after a max of 10 wears. Also the size runs short. Normally wear a 7 wide or 7.5 regular but an 8 in this brand.
