    Fuse Brigandine Hooded Jacket

When your day involves skinning up the mountain, dropping cornices, finding lines in super-tight trees, and hitching a ride home in the back of someone's pickup, your outerwear is going to take some abuse. Good thing The North Face Men's Fuse Brigandine Jacket features FuseForm technology, which integrates targeted extra-durable, abrasion-resistant zones in the places where a big-mountain rider takes the most abuse: the shoulders, sides, and inner arms. By fusing fabrics together instead of stitching, it reduces wearing and bulk to give you incredibly durable streamlined performance.

Three-layer GoreTex gives you top-performance waterproofing that can withstand extreme alpine conditions, while the tricot lining is soft and comfortable on the skin. A four-way stretch powder skirt with jacket-to-pant integration capabilities keeps the snow outside your coat instead of in when you're bombing the steep and deep. The collar pockets work conveniently with a radio mic so you can effectively communicate while you're getting picked up from the helicopter or double as ventilation when your back on familiar terrain.

    • Burly big mountain jacket for skiing and riding in gnarly terrain
    • Gore-Tex fights off wind and snow to keep you dry and comfortable
    • Hyper articulated fit keeps you moving freely while riding or hiking
    • Helmet-compatible hood further blocks wind and snow squalls
    • Large armpit zips expel excess heat after long boot packs or skins
    • Four way stretch powder skirt keeps blower pow out of your layers
    • Plethora of pockets hold goggles, skins, wallet, phone and radios
    • Item #TNF04MU

    Best Shell out There

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: large
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I have this shell in three women's colors, so when my brother had his birthday coming up I decided I would snag him one as he was always commenting on mine. It is probably the most bomber shell I have ever had. Burly material that does not tear easily and resists abrasion. Keeps you dry all day in the worst weather and looks great.

    New Favorite Shell

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 190lbs

I went in kind of curious how much better this jacket is than my current ski shell and the answer is: a lot. SO MANY POCKETS. Pass pocket, chest pockets, waist pockets; so nice for all the stuff you need up on the mountain. As many others have said, this jacket feels STURDY. The material feels like it wouldn't take damage even in a super gnarly tree run. The fit is slightly oversized (I normally wear XL and a Large was perfect). It is an athletic cut but not overly restrictive or tight. Looks good and it is functional too, what more could you ask for?!

    Great All in Ski coat

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 178lbs

No need to worry about inner layer, or outer layer.
    this coat has it all.
Great quality, I liked the sleeve length for a glove that fits under the coat.

    Definition of Burly

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 175lbs

This jacket has pretty much everything I want in a ski jacket, and some. There are enough pockets for you to carry your phone, ski straps, a beacon, a radio, a ham and cheese sandwich with chips, a spare change of clothes, and the kitchen sink. I don't recommend carrying all of those things, but this jacket could do it. The fabric feels like you couldn't rip it if you tried. Just feels absolutely bullet proof. The length of the jacket is longer than pretty much any ski jacket I've seen, but I loved it. There was no way my butt was getting cold in this jacket. The pit zips were huge and easy to access which is crucial if you run warm like I do. But maybe best of all, it's one of the best looking jackets I've ever worn. As they say, look good, ski good. Put this jacket on and you'll immediately feel like you can ski like Candide Thovex.

    INSANE DETAIL

    • Size Bought: L
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 180lbs

I got the chance to take this jacket out for a couple of days. Just looking at this jacket you can see the insane amount of detail that The North Face put into the Fuse Brigandine. There are some really cool features that I would definitely look for in a jacket for touring or backcountry snowmobiling. It has a sick trim to it. I used a large and if I were to do it again I might consider a medium, but the extra room allowed for the necessary layers that come along with a shell jacket. Gore Tex ensures that you won't ever get wet. Super stoked on this jacket!!!

    The Best Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 175lbs

This is easily the most technical jacket I have ever owned and couldn't be happier. I love the fit and how far down it goes to cover my seat. The vents and pockets are placed perfectly for easy access to all your goodies whether in the resort, or hiking for backcountry lines.

    The Best Jacket

    Great Piece

    • Height: 6'
    • Weight: 210lbs

I had a North Face Free Thinker Jacket for a few years, and it finally bit the dust, enter the Brigandine. This is a fantastic piece, and it is clear to see the progression from the somewhat basic Free Thinker to the feature laden Brigandine. Pockets are everywhere, goggle wipe in the sleeve, and a great fit will leave you worry free about where you're going to stash that pocket bacon for a day on the hill. High end Gore-Tex and a durable outer layer means this was built to keep you comfortable and dry for a long day of skiing. After a full day in a heavy storm, I was warm, dry, and happy with my decision to stick with TNF!

Favorite Jacket I have ever worn

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 155lbs

I had been dreaming about the day that I would get a chance to wear this jacket because it looked so cool and had so many cool features and this jacket is certainly more than I could have hoped for. The 3 layer Gore Tex in this jacket allows for breath-ability unlike any other jacket I have worn, which makes it awesome for activities like backcountry skiing or others where you generate a lot of body heat. That being said, it is completely waterproof. I completely buried myself in snow while my friend was going to the bathroom in the logde and remained like that for around 20 minutes, and the jacket was not wet at all and no water had seeped through.

Additionally, this jacket has tons of pockets where you can store a variety of things in a very organized way. The tech spec for venting for this jacket only lists the collar bone zips, but there are also pit zips, which is really nice. This Jacket also fits better than any ski jacket I have ever worn. It allows for an awesome range of motion without being too baggy and getting in the way.

This review might seem a little unorganized, but that is because I am so excited about this jacket and can hardly think straight. The point is, this is the best jacket i have ever tried and I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for an elite, top-of-the-line jacket. It is worth it.

    Fuse Brigandine

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 155lbs

This is the nicest inbounds jacket I have ever worn. It is absolutely bulletproof and has tons of well thought out pockets and features. The Formfuse abrasion resistant fabric is no joke! I've put this thing through hell and there are no snags or tears. I love the fit. It contours to your body with a non-restricted athletic cut, and sleeved are just a tad long which is nice on powder days. There are even two small thumb loops on the outside of the jacket to prevent your sleeves from sliding up when you fall, which make it impossible for snow to get up your sleeve. If you're searching for the best possible ski/snowboard jacket, look no further, the Fuse Brigandine is the one! It may seem like a lot of money, but this jacket is worth every penny!

The jacket of the Collinson family. If it is good enough for the demands they put on it then it is great for my every day life. Ran this jacket last season and loved it. One of my favorite pieces about the jacket is the contour and structure that it is built with. Very little restriction on any part of it and tons of flexibility. Typical Gore-Tex design kept me dry and warm on even some of the worst days. Not only did I ski in this shell all winter, but hosting all of Backcountry's activations across the west this was my go to jacket for working in the field. My only complant is one I have with almost all jackets and that is the sleeves are a bit long or maybe my arms are a bit shorter than the average 5'8" individual...who knows? Either way super tech jacket, great durability and fit, tons of pockets and features and seriously a solid piece of art by The North Face!
