    Live to play another day.

The whitewater icon against which all other helmets are measured, the Sweet Protection Strutter Helmet delivers low-volume protection for river running and playboating. It provides superior performance without skimping on style, and it's packed with plenty of comfort-enhancing features, too.

LFT shell technology combines polyamide and long fiberglass to make the shell super-tough with a great balance of elasticity and rigidity, and Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer in the front of the helmet increases impact protection while maintaining a light weight. An EVA liner absorbs impacts without cracking, even in cold temperatures. Occigrip construction makes the helmet easily adjustable to provide a secure, yet comfortable fit that won't shift when you get tumbled in turbulent waters. Comfort pads provide a cushy feel and wick moisture, and the Strutter comes with two pad thicknesses so you can choose the one that's best for you.

    Looks or protection?

This helmet is comfortable. The piece of material under the buckle makes clipping your skin into the buckle impossible. You want to do this buckle up tight - and really get the fit right. I've seen plenty of these getting shaken around on peoples heads when they've spent some time under water.
The visor is brilliant at providing shelter from sun or rain, but blocks a portion of your vision, particularly when going up portage tracks. The visor also catches plenty of water, contributing to the helmet riding back, exposing your forehead.

I love my strutter and i've never sell it. I'd also by a new one when it breaks. However, if you're looking for something to really protect your skull - there's better out there for sure.

Check out the Sweet Protection Rocker - they have a similar visor, but with much better protection particularly around the back of the neck.

    Great brain bucket

This is my 2nd strutter and I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't like it. My favorite thing about this is the brim. I wear this helmet at the put in and take outs while waiting for shuttle since I don't remember to put my sunglasses in with my dry clothes. It doesn't have much warmth for winter paddling though, so when I go in the winter, I wear a skull cap/balaclava and I'm good to go. I plan to wear this for 3 weeks straight on my winter trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon.

    Great Helmet for paddling

I bought this helmet when i started guiding back in March, it's been great to me and fits like a glove on my head. This helmet takes hits really well and the brim of it not only keeps sun out of your face, but can create an air pocket when white water pushes around it. The only issue i have with this helmet is sunglasses don't fit well under them, which you don't really need but it's sometimes nice to wear them.

I wouldn't change anything about it

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got this helmet as a birthday gift for my sister who's started getting more and more into whitewater. She was super happy with it. This is what she had to say.

"Not only is this a good looking helmet, it really hugs the contours of my head. The adjustment system really helps you get a good fit without any weird or uncomfortable pressure points. It feels snug yet very comfortable! The thing I love most about this helmet is the sun brim. It's nice not always having to wear sunglasses on the river and it keeps my nose and eyes pretty well shaded. However, if I do wear shades they fit nicely unlike other helmets I've owned in the past. Another thing I love is that when it gets wet or you're under water you don't come up dripping out of your helmet. Seems like every time I take it off it's dry. The material on the inside is great! To be completely honest, I wouldn't change anything about it. "

      Unanswered Question

What is the maximum size this can to? I have a really large dome on top of my shoulders and was curious about whether or not I would have to find a different product to fit my head.
