    Bad service

I had to return this helmet since it was too big - however still no refund or credit. they say returns are easy however our experience was the opposite. Still waiting to hear - we will need to dispute with my credit card company... this is not enjoyable exercise...

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this helmet for my boyfriend to replace his almost 10-year old snowboarding helmet. We recently used it on a ski trip to Montana and he loved it! The fit was perfect (love that the inside is adjustable), no need for a beanie underneath, and fits with his Smith goggles. One of the main selling points on this was the clip on the back to hold the goggles on. I can see this being a long-lasting, protective, durable helmet for years. And as always, thanks to Backcountry for the killer selection, service and crazy fast shipping. I love love love shopping here!

      Good product for the price

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

At a very reasonable price, you are getting a solid helmet that's just about what you'd expect for an under $80 helmet. I usually fit size large headwear comfortably, but when I bought a size large in this helmet it seemed to run a little big. So I wear a thin beanie under the helmet for added warmth and a more secure fit.

Good helmet for a good price

Warm, comfortable helmet. Adjusting was pretty easy with some plastic snaps inside. It's not as convenient as the click wheel on my giro, but easy enough. Wore on a frigid day and a bluebird and was comfortable even without adjustable vents (I wore a beanie both days). Padding was comfortable. My ears stayed warm, and the pockets held my wireless headphones great. I really like the matte finish. Wore with my Oakley goggles and no gapping. Helmet had everything I needed at a good price.

        It works, but...

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Good helmet, and the orange looks great... but you will need to wear this helmet with a beanie if you don't want the plastic irritating the heck out of the back of your neck. It also runs just a tad too big, and fit nearly perfectly with my midweight North Face beanie. It's also a bit wider than I expected, so my goggles struggle to fit around it. Aesthetically pleasing, yes. Protects the noggin, check. Extremely comfortable, eh.

Liked the price more than the fit

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I rode with a helmet that was too big for me for a long time. So when I bought a new coat and pants this year I added a this helmet to cart because it was cheap. It fits, the shape is a little less appealing than it looks online. There were a few plastic skull savers in the back that would dig into my neck the first 5 times of use but it I don't notice them now. I think I was most disappointed that I have smith goggles and they don't fit the helmet regardless the intuition fit sticker on it. On cold days the wind really freezes out my forehead. I'll probably be buying a new helmet next year. But for now it's keeping my brain in place.

You Need Your Noggin for Later!

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I actually bought this helmet for my wife but decided to use it for the day to see how it compared to the helmet I've been using for several years. I really like the no-nonsense design and features but what sets its apart for me is the cradle-like fit system inside that provides a secure fit without having to crank down on the chinstrap.

        Fits Wide!

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I like the style of this helmet a lot! It is simple and streamlined. However it is really wide! I have a small head and I ordered a small, which fit well around the top of the head but the padding in the ears was super wide. Be wary of this helmet if you have a small/narrow head!

        Great choice!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Use this style helmet every time I ski! I not only own this helmet but have an additional one, exact style & size, for another color option. It's super comfy, like the way it sits on my head, not resting up too high. Each pair of spy goggles I have tried with fit perfectly. Enjoy!!

        Slightly Bulky

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've never considered myself as having a small head, but this definitely makes me feel that once I throw it on. It fits well in terms of comfort, but there are other helmets out there that look better once on, and I know that's a personal opinion but still can't bring myself to give it 4 stars. Quality wise, I feel safe riding and taking falls. This helmet definitely feels like it will offer great protection should I ever smash me head into anything. For the price, this helmet is hard to beat.

        Just Plain Great

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This helmet gets the job done. It's safe, aesthetically pleasing, and no gaper gap! Pair this with really any smith or Oakley goggle and i have found that it fits perfectly with this helmet.

The small is a littler roomier than the small in the Vantage or Variance size but that is a good thing. It really fits like a small should. Also this helmet will get you the style points whether you are in the park or bombing the steeps.

This is a great helmet for either the seasoned pro or the beginner as it is bottom line going to protect you noggin. No thin shell nonsense, just plain safety.

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is the first snowboard helmet Ive owned and I really cant imagine what else you get with the more expensive ones. The fit is perfect for me, it keeps my head and ears warm, and has saved me from further injury already.

        Good helmet for the price

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought this helmet for my wife.

So far she is happy with it. The liner adds additional warmth.
It is definitely helping her get through the learning experience in snowboarding and saved her from many possible concussions.

        Very durable.

        Great for the price

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If all your looking for is a bucket to protect your head when you take a spill this is the helmet for you. Fits well, looks good, and keeps your head pretty warm. Was out in 0 degree weather with it and have no complaints. Its a tight fit in my Patagonia jacket hood but it'll stay there if you really try

        Like it

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The fit is great, so is ventilation and warmth. I was really surprised how warm it is while still being well vented. My only complaint is that the sides are so rounded and smooth that my goggles (also Smith) pop off if I put them up a little too high on the helmet forehead. The retainer clip at the back keeps me from losing them, but still, it's annoying. To compensate, when I move the goggles up onto the helmet I let the lower edge of the goggles hang down below the lower edge of the helmet. Still, a great feeling helmet at a great price.

        Are the ear pads removable?
