Why We Like The Simms G4Z Stockingfoot Wader
As if the Simms G4 waders weren't famous enough, the G4Z Stockingfoot Wader adds a YKK waterproof front zipper, so we don't have to get half-undressed just to take a pee in between fish. Made in Bozeman, Montana, the G4Z features premium GORE-TEX waterproofing—with 3-layer GTX up top for more mobility and breathability and 4-layer GTX down low for better durability and abrasion resistance. In addition to the iconic front zipper, these waders also include micro-fleece lined handwarmer pockets, zippered chest pockets, and abrasion-resistant gravel guards for Simms' most durable, fully featured waders.

Great fit. Easy access. Durable.
Great fit. The front zipper is awesome and I can never see myself going back to non-zip waders. I was launching my raft down some rock and slipped about 5 feet. I thought for sure there would be cuts or deep abrasions on my bottom and legs. No rips and no leaks. As always, Simms delivers.

Overall I love the G4Z
Very comfortable, fits proportionately. The added padding on top of neoprene boots provides comfort and full fit when using fins. Multiple pockets with zip seal is incredibly smooth and tight. I preferred older padded shoulder straps with buckle release. Although more durable, new straps are stiff and edges dig in when wearing t-shirt .

Have used them several times since purchase. No leaks and super comfortable. The zipper makes it so much easier to get in and out and for when nature calls.

The World's Best!
All I can say is thank you Simms! This is the wader I've been waiting for. It's hard to pick just one new features that I'm most impressed by, but the overall weight was the first thing I noticed. They are noticeably lighter than their predecessors. The new shoulder straps are also much more comfortable and more breathable than I expected. I've been fortunate to beat them up pretty hard since the fall and have yet to have any leaking issues. Whether that's the GORE-TEX, seams or zipper!

The new Simms G4Z waders are my favorite wader to date. The comfortable fit allows me to move without constraint in and out of my drift boat. The relaxed fit is enhanced with the addition of the front zipper. The front zipper allows one to get in and out of the waders with ease. The zippered front, fleeced lined pockets, great for keeping the hands warm, and are just the right size to hold a few extra items. These waders are comfortable, well fitted and ideal for fishing long days.

Simply the best
This is the best wader I've ever used. They have done a full PNW winter steelhead season, a trip to Sweden with lots of hiking and aggressive wading, full summer trout season in freestone pocket water, 2 trips to BC, full PNW fall steelhead season, and back to winter steelhead season again with zero issues. They have held up 100% through bush bashing, miles of hiking, and aggressive wading, all while being the most comfortable waders I've owned. I especially love the new adjustable suspender system. You can adjust how they ride on your shoulders with the amount of bulk you have underneath as the seasons change...so they aren't either too loose, or dig down into your shoulders with heavier layers or if you have all the pockets stuffed, which I usually do. If you prefer using the best possible gear available when fishing, just get these.

Bombproof
Working in Alaska for nine seasons and on the water for over 250 days a year I need a wader that is bombproof. The increased durability allows me to bush whack through the willows, climb in and out of boats constantly, and wade the most challenging runs in my area. The breathability is crucial as you don’t want to be sweating your butt off only to freeze later on in the day when you settle in to your fishing. To be honest, I was apprehensive of testing these out in Alaska in October because spoiler alert, it’s cold as heck. But I was pleasantly surprised. Every couple years Simms will upgrade their waders, and once again the improvements are extremely noticeable. This is why I believe there isn’t a company out there that can match the quality and longevity of the G4.

current king
I have been more than pleased with the new G4Z Wader. They are an exceptional wader that provides outstanding protection from the elements without sacrificing comfort or style. For the past year these waders have performed flawlessly during my guide trips on the Truckee River. They look sharp, are easy to move around in, and they keep me dry. The main front zipper is absolutely waterproof while being easy to engage and disengage. I love the swarm of practical pockets strategically placed throughout the wader. These pockets allow me to streamline my attire (leave the hip pack) and approach the water with less cumbersome gear.

G4Z not worth the money
My G4Z waders didn’t last nearly as long as my previous G3 waders. I’m not impressed by the quality … especially considering the huge price!
