    Absolutely Necessary

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    Per my husband:

Got these for my G3 boots and I'm never going back in the river again without them. Surefooted like a water goat! If there's such a thing.

    Absolutely necessary gear

There are reviews poo pooing these because they came off. Not sure what those folks did wrong cause I gave these things EVERY CHANCE to get sucked off in GA clay. They never budged. Gave exceptional grip on the rocks, while not making the hike to the stream miserable. I will say it's like the hot dog/bun combination: you really need 6 per boot but they come in boxes of ten. The extras might come in handy though if they do come off.

      Prefer the HardBite

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I got these cleats and the HardBite cleats and I definitely prefer the HardBites. The AlumiBite protrude too far from the sole of my boots for my liking, while the HardBite barely stick out at all, which I definitely prefer. I will keep these however, and probably still end up using them quite a bit down the line.

      They're Great

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These Simms AlumiBite's work so well. They are easy to put in, they stay in great, and they really work. I would recommend pairing with Simms boots though. I have friends that tried to use them with Redington and Patagonia wading boots (because they're better than the studs they make) but they didn't really pair well. They do the trick, but are really meant for the Simms wading boots patterns it seems. Overall though, I would highly recommend giving them a go. The aluminum really gives you so much grip on those slippery river rocks! (10 cleats per boot is recommended, so 2 packs in total are needed)

      Snot cutter

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love these little snot rock cutters. If you are fishing rivers with snotty rocks and grime then you know how easy it is to loose your balance and spill your beverage, the absolute worst. Oh and you might break your rod in the fall, but the beer...... I highly recommend these on your boots, i keep an extra set in my bag to hand to homies, after they have fallen of course. Stay upright and stay dry and hydrated.

      Game Changers

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got these as a gift for a friend and have some feedback to share: "Cleats are the way to go! I put these cleats on my Freestones and they really changed the performance. While the rubber soles on the boots were great when I was out of the water, when they got really cold they seemed to harden and lose traction in the water. So I added cleats and saw a huge difference in the way the boot performed and my ability to fish with confidence. My only issue with these cleats is that they sell them in 10 packs and Simms recommends a stud pattern with 8 studs a boot. So to correctly set up their stud pattern you have to buy two packs and then have left over studs. But overall a game changer in the water."

      Awesome design

I've used Patagonia Rock Grip boots with the aluminum bars, while these cleats take a bit more work since there are more to place, they're designed to fit like a puzzle piece into the treads so I expect them not to pull out like the bars did of the featureless Patagonia soles . And they won't spin like other screw in cleats do, working themselves loose.

Just some advice, get a puck of cleats (10) for each boot.

      Awesome design
