    Dura Ace BB86 Bottom Bracket

The 86mm bottom bracket is a relatively new, reasonably beefier BB standard that allows frame designers a little more leeway to play around with seat tube, downtube, and chainstay designs. The new, larger shell requires a larger bracket, obviously, and Shimano designed the Dura-Ace BB86 Bottom Bracket to quite literally fill the gap. While it's a little larger than traditional BBs, the BB86 has the same design as Shimano's other Dura-Ace brackets, with steel cartridge bearings packed inside composite cups and plastic o-rings and dust shields to keep everything running smoothly. The 86 is also compatible with Shimano HollowTech cranks, so you can keep your old crankset even if you're getting a new frame.

I'm using this bb on my new Ridley Fenix SL. Extremely light and incredibly smooth. BTW- The Fenix SL frameset came from CC too. Absolutely love it!! Cheers

I use this with Ultegra cranks on my Ridley Fenix SL. The best thing about a bottom bracket is never noticing you bottom bracket. Mission accomplished. It is smooth and reliable.

A BB86 shell lacks internal threads and has a 41mm inside diameter. This Shimano BB86 Bottom Bracket Assembly is made to press right into your bike. It will mate your Shimano HollowTech crankset to any frame equipped with a BB86 bottom bracket shell.

There isn't much to say about a well functioning bottom bracket, and there shouldn't be. This works as designed with no complaints.

Smooth and maintenance free, isn't that what we want out of a BB? it is for my and after a summer of commuting, training, racing, I don't even have to think about it, it's always dependable.

Will this replace a SM-BB91-41 bottom bracket?

I currently have this BB in my bike with an Ultegra 11 speed crankset on a Merckx emx-7. I was thinking of getting a FSA Slk-k light 386evo crankset. Can you tell me if this would work or would I need another BB or some adapters? Thanks!

You will need a different bottom bracket (BB386EVO cranksets have a 30mm spindle, though the spindle length is the same).
