Why We Like The Saucony Peregrine 14 Trail Running Shoe

Built to travel far, the Saucony Peregrine 14 Trail Running Shoe protects our feet on rugged trails and through endless miles. The balanced PWRRUN midsole foam softens, stabilizes, and stimulates our strides to fight off fatigue, while the fortified toe armors our balance digits against missteps on rocky terrain. Through mud, over slick rocks, and down scree fields, the deep, tacky, hardwearing lugs secure our footing, so no energy is wasted.

They wear so good. Feels like you are walking on sponges.

Not as good as the 13s but I still love em'

I've had three pairs of the Peregrine 13s that I've absolutely loved-- definitely my go-to trail shoe. After checking my local store to get another pair, I was met with the Peregrine 14s. I gave them a shot. They're a really good trail shoe overall, and I feel like they're definitely more structured than the 13s; I also love the toe reinforcement. Though I wouldn't consider them a fast shoe, they're pretty versatile-- but I run on mostly trails and rough terrain. I run 50 miles a week, compete in track meets, and do regular speed workouts. I usually swap for some spikes on the track, but I have done a few workouts (and track workouts) in them-- and they were quick. They are thicker than the 13s and feel slower. A good pick nonetheless.

Lightweight and comfortable

I waited until testing these out for a month before submitting this review. I’ve gone on several hikes, 5 to 8 miles in rocky mountainous areas with steps and some boulders hopping. I bought these to supplement my heavier hiking shoes, because I needed a lighter pair to take on plane travel later this summer. So far so good! They have plenty of tread, I’ve experienced no slipping on gravel. They feel light and bouncy while hiking. I sometimes have knee issues and if anything, my knees feel better than they do with the heavier shoes. They fit well, I bought my standard size 7M.

Comfortable! Concerned about durability?

This shoe is SO comfortable when hiking! I hiked for two straight weeks through Utah’s National parks, up to 12 miles in one day and even down 1.5 miles into the Grand Canyon. Never a blister. If you’re wearing it like I did, for steep hiking, size up a half size from your running shoe size to give plenty of room for your toe box (you don’t want them running into the head of your shoe on an incline). Only issue I faced: these shoes (and my daughter’s, too — same pair, different color) quickly rubbed bare around the lace holes. Fix that issue, and it’s a 5-star shoe.

Poor stability for trailer

I’ve used these for trail runs and hikes. They fit very narrow and do not provide as much stability as I had hoped.

Gave me a sharp pain in my feet

Wore them once on a hike and they hurt my feet. Obviously now I can’t return them since I wore them so I’ll just be donating them.
