    Blaze your own trail.

Long gone are the days spent ambling cautiously over rocky trails. Thanks to the Salomon Men's Speecross 4 Trail Running Shoe, you're able to confidently run through tough terrain of all kinds without having to slow down your stride. The Speedcross features a breathable mesh upper with hardy fabric overlays for torsional support, while the DWR treatment and mud guard prevent puddles and light precipitation from saturating your socks.

Salomon's SensiFit upper offers a snug sock-like fit, which means you can say goodbye to hot spots and chafing caused by ill-fitting shoes. The QuickLace system provides a speedy and secure alternative to the traditional lacing system, and the low-profile lace pocket enables you to stash excess drawcord so you don't trip over a drawcord mid-sprint. An Ortholite footbed and dual-density EVA midsole assure shock attenuation and a responsive, energetic feel underfoot. Not to mention, a recently updated Contagrip outsole provides unrivaled traction and stability on scree, mud, and just about everything in-between.

    • Anti-debris upper and mud guard offer sediment-free protection

    Tried and True

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 11.5
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 175lbs

This is the fourth pair of Speedcross shoes I have owned and I have never been disappointed by any one of them. They are rugged, and durable but light and quick. From 5k to 50 miles my feet never get tired in these things. I've put nearly 500 miles on each previous pair and never felt like I lost any grip or protection.

    dexterity and feedback

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 140lbs

If you like to have dexterity and feedback from your trail then these are the shoes for you. Their simple grippy sole is amazing and although protects you from big hits, still lets you feel the trail. I love these shoes! I used to run as a sprinter and these shoes make you feel fast. I've owned 2 pairs and they have held up great! Though not for wide feet in my opinion.

    4x4 shoes

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 9
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 160lbs

I bought these mainly for some light hiking down here in Costa Rica. So far so good. Great fit, great grip on any terrain, even on wet rocks. They give me more sense of security when walking down the sketchiest paths. I fully recommend to buy these shoes. I like the feature for tucking in the excess of the laces in the small pouch.

    Great

    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 130lbs

Bought these for my husband and he's been enjoying them so far. He has taken them on several runs and we did a hike in southern utah on some sandstone. He had zero issues while I had to take my shoes off to cross some steep sections without slipping. He did say that they run true to size for Salomon, but he usually has to size up with Solomon shoes and he said that they tend to be narrow.

    Grip and Lightweight Protection

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

If you're looking for grip, look to the Speedcross 4. As a Salomon employee, these are a staple in my quiver of shoes, in both GTX and non-GTX models. The Speedcross provide enough grip to give me confidence on the slippery mud, and are the perfect fit for shoulder season.

    the BEST

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 12
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 240lbs

I absolutely love this shoe! when i bought this shoe i unboxed it, packed it in my bag and took it to yosemite. i wore it for maybe a 2 mile walk, then did half dome which is about a 16 mile hike. i didnt even have hot spots by the end! a risky move but these shoes are fantastic. nest to no break in time, very comfortable, true to size. quick laces are very convenient, however there are times when i need to play with the laces a bit to get the right fit on my foot, but its still very quick and easy. also these shoes are extremely grippy! which i absolutely love. you cannot go wrong with these shoes. i use them for hiking and trail running. they have been fantastic! mine are just over a year old and still doing great!

    Sure footed

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 9.5
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 178lbs

Pure confidence ensues when I slip these shoes on. My go-to trail shoes in the wet, muddy, snow laden, heavily rooted, rocky, loosely dirt-ed, and/or sandy trails. Not recommended for hard packed dirt.

These shoes don't feel bulky on your feet and the quicklace system gives me the assurance that I won't ever have to worry about my shoe laces unraveling.

    Awesome

I bought these for my Dad and this is what he had to say: This is my fifth pair and I keep purchasing them because they are amazing trail running shoes that can also be used for hiking and camping. The thing to know about the Speedcross are that they run pretty slim so if you have a wide foot, these might not work that well for you.

      Great Shoe!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Height: 6'1"
      • Weight: 200lbs

Very comfortable with a great fit to match. Some of the best fitting shoes i've had in a long time.

      Great!

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size

I've enjoyed trailrunning for a few years now. Salomon speedcross's are the only shoes I've ever used. I love them. This is my 2nd pair. My first pair lasted for 3 years (running ~1-2 times/week) but they eventually wore out. These fit well right out of the box and (at least for me) require almost no break in time. I was able to go out and run 10 miles on them immediately with no blisters or other complications. I'm a 10.5 and they fit true to size. If you're on the fence, just get them. You won't regret it.

      Great shoe, shallow heel cup

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 12
      • Height: 6'1"
      • Weight: 175lbs

Actually love these shoes - they're light, comfortable, and have great traction but the only complaint is that the heel cup doesn't hold until the shoes are pretty well broken in. I've experienced this with many different Salomon shoe models so not necessarily something that everyone may experience.

      Excellent Trail Running

      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: 10.5
      • Height: 6'1"
      • Weight: 190lbs

This is my second pair of these shoes and slipping them on feels like heaven. The knobby traction, which takes a moment to get used to, feels like I am walking on a bouncy cushion.

Very durable, super comfortable, and they look great. They are a bit tighter for the size than my normal running shoes.

      Very Different + Very Effective

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 11.5
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 165lbs

These trail shoes are very different from past shoes I've run in. The lacing system, stiff feel of the upper, roomy toe-box, and the tread all took a little time to get used to. However, after a few runs in the snow and mud I started to feel pretty confident with them. One of the more notable advantages these shoes have over previously owned trail shoes is the traction. There's way less slip, even going up snow covered, icy trails. It's bit like strapping knobby Moto tires to your feet. Another good thing to mention, is that my road shoes are support shoes because I over pronate. So, when I'm trying new shoes I worry a bit that I might have trouble or get an injury from them. These have been great. No issues. I bought the same size as my Asics road shoes as well. Sizing seems pretty consistent. Overall, I really like them.

      Solid Trail Shoes

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size

I bought these as a gift for my brother, here is his review "Solid trail running and hiking shoe. Gripped much better than expected. The thinner foot base was snug and supportive. Stoked to get these dirty!".

      Customer Service was Excellent

      • Fit: True to size

SpeedCross runners are great shoes, this is my third pair. Trail running in Moab, they get used and abused. Amazing traction on anything, ice, snow, slickrock. My only qualm is they don't have wide sizes, so they are a bit narrow on my wide feet. I tried a size up this time around, but it was too long. I exchanged them after talking with customer service and they made it very, very simple. I received my new shoes two days later the week before christmas. It was great.

      Tough and Built to Last

      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 175lbs

I am on my fourth pair of Speedcross shoes and second pair of the 4.0 specifically. These shoes are rugged. The lugs are tough and grab on to most anything but not so huge that you can't take them on the pavement when you need to. The cushioning is firm but forgiving and you can take these shoes on endless runs.
I have put over 500 miles on almost every pair of Speedcross shoes and never felt like I was punishing my feet. Worth every penny. FYI assuming I paid $120 for the shoes that's only 24 cents a mile.

      Camino de Santiago Shoes

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: 9
      • Height: 5'11"
      • Weight: 175lbs

Purchased these as my main Camino de Santiago shoes. Walked 300 miles from St Jean France to Leon Spain over varied terrain, temperature and environmental conditions. Feet stayed dry in light rain and heavy fog. Were warm with wool socks and fit was tighter than expected. I wear a 9 and by day five little toe nail was black from pressure. Eventually fell off. Would up a half size if used for hiking/walking all day. Lacing system is excellent and despite walking 20+ miles per day had no blisters. Tread wears better than expected. Photo shows wear on rocky terrain, gravel roads, and hard pack after ~250 miles. Plan to finish the last segment (180 miles) with same shoes.

      Overall excellent shoe.

      Camino de Santiago Shoes

      Best trail shoe

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These shoes are the best! The tread is awesome in mud, dirt, or scrambling over rocks. I've owned multiple pairs and generations of this shoe and it has never disappointed!

      great shoes

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Height: 6'0"
      • Weight: 160lbs

I have worn many pairs of these shoes, these happen to be for my brothers birthday and he has had many of these shoes. theyre great for trail running and just normal hiking.

      Unanswered Question

I'm not clear on the difference between the Speedcross 3 and the new Speedcross 4. What improvements were made?

Are these waterproof? Salamon speed cross 4

Hi Eddie, These shoes are not going to be waterproof. They do have a DWR coating on them though, so they will be highly water resistant. We do have a waterproof GoreTex version available however.
