Why We Like The Salomon Pulsar Trail Pro Trail Running Shoe

With the start gun adrenaline long worn off and the endorphin high fading, the Salomon Pulsar Trail Pro Trail Running Shoe helps us keep pace. Armed with a snappy shank, this pair springs us into fast, powerful transitions despite our fatigue, and the Quicklace closure lets us make some room for the long-run swell without the re-tie hassle. As the trail turns from dirt to rock and steepens dramatically, the light, flexible upper lets our feet breathe and flex freely to easily adapt to changing terrain, while the generous stack of foam makes everything we stride over feel like air, ensuring our joints don't demand a break.

I’ve been running on the Pulsar Trail Pro shoe for 3 months now and couldn’t be happier. My average is 50 miles a week, predominantly trail, with most runs being 10-20 miles each. I enjoy a lot of different terrain, from gravel and rocky hills of the north GA mountains to packed dirt and grassy lowlands. Salomon, just has it figured out when it comes to the different types of feet and the various terrain they travel. This shoe hugs my slightly high arch and has plenty of mid sole support to carry me for the longer 20 mile runs. The Pulsar Trail Pro feels light and comfortable with just enough room in the forefoot for my wider feet. The rocker motion of the shoe is seamless from heel to toe push off in a way that allows my feet to “work the trails” with little effort. The design of the forefoot allows for easy pushing on the ups and the rear of the shoe is also slightly curved, which forces the hips to sink into an easy buoyant position on the downs, without any jarring. I personally, would prefer a bit “beefier” lug height than what’s on this shoe but the lugs themself still have good traction on all surface types. Only downfall is I think the lugs will wear out quicker than the actual shoe itself. The Pulsar Pro has an elastic upper tongue area, with a bit of padding, which again aids to the “perfect” fit and support of the mid foot, no matter who’s wearing it. This part of the shoe really keeps the entire foot in place when running steep ups and downs. The elastic upper continues around the entire upper foot area, preventing partials from getting in your shoe while running; no need for gators! I’m a fan of the sleek, quick lace system and haven’t had any issues using it. The bumper guard on the front of the shoe is perfect and NOT overbearing or restricting in any way that makes the shoe bulky. As far as cushioning, there is plenty, it’s light and airy with enough solid feel to keep the foot pulsing in the forward motion. Testing the shoe in my last race with a deep water crossing, it releases water pretty quickly and still kept a snug fit throughout the remaining miles. We all love when we find a shoe that just works but there is comfort in trying a new shoe when you can rely on a company that gets it right, in regards to FEET! My biggest kudos to Salomon, is that their shoes always hug your feet like a glove with the sock liner they build into the shoe and they use high quality materials in the build.
