W.S

Rab have really got their design and functionality dialled in these days. Just one of those jackets that feels “right” from the get-go. Comfy and adaptable. Genuinely really well tailored. Does definitely fit large for the size but never feels too baggy.

I’m a big fan of Primaloft. For me it’s the most versatile and effective synthetic insulation out there. This jacket is a little pricey but it’s very well designed, super lightweight and very warm. I think Primaloft has a warmth to weight ratio that is like nothing I’ve ever felt. The cut of this jacket isn’t too baggy, the elastic cuffs are so nice and it’s just really comfy and functional all around and looks great as well. First Rab product for me and I’m stoked. I’m 5’10 and 165lbs with a lean athletic build and the large is just right for me.

Normally wear a size L,

Normally wear a size L, bought a size L, true to size and fits perfectly. Pros: two way zip (useful when sitting down); nice long back that falls well beneath your waist to keep cold out; odd cuffs (half normal material, half stretchy material) that actually work quite well so you're not constantly adjusting Velcro, and are comfy; warm and keeps wind out nicely; light and packs down small; well made and a good quality garment; not too baggy , but not too close-fitting either. One major drawback: the hood! You can fit a basketball in it and it's designed to be worn over a helmet. If you don't normally walk around with a helmet on, then it's very difficult to cinch the hood down to fit, as the constrictor elastic isn't really up to it. So the hood is really a baggy scarf. Super-fast delivery. A nod to the Rab website too: useful to have reviews, and accurate sizing.

Looks good and fits well. Extremely light, but still warm. Particularly like the new cuff design. It works well and is very comfortable.

Hugely adaptable, very comfortable.

This is one of my most frequently used pieces. Whether standing round on cold belays or taking the dog for a late night toilet walk, this is "just right"! Shrugs off showers, stuffs small, fits well. The only thing I'd add is an inside phone pocket.

Xenair Alpine

Used for a few weeks now running winter mountaineering courses in Scotland. Really impressed with the warmth to weight ratio. Happily been recommending to my clients.

Men's Xenair Alpine Insulated Jacket

Excellent all round jacket. Lightweight, packs down really well. Just what you need to pull out of your rucksack when you really need that extra layer of protection against the wind and cold. Another fantastic garment from Rab.

Best insulated soft shell I've

Best insulated soft shell I've use. Great for climbing in much warmer then its weight makes you think. Cuffs work realy well and sleeves not too long, that is a normal result of needing a large fit.

Great active weight warmth on

Great active weight warmth on the go. Not as warm as I expected so choose as an active insulation rather than a belay jacket for winter climes. Really packable and lightweight. Love the cuffs and fit.
