Why We Like The Kinetic 2.0 Jacket

The Kinetic 2.0 Jacket has taken a fresh look at the technical shell by combining the stretch and breathability of a soft shell, with the waterproof protection of a hard shell. This combination is made possible by the Proflex laminate that seals out rain without hurting breathability. Meanwhile the under-helmet hood means we can comfortably get off of the wall when the weather turns.

  • Built for high-output adventures in the mountains
  • Polyester face fabric fights back against daily wear and tear
  • 3-layer laminate seals out moisture, while wicking sweat
  • Under-helmet hood offers reliable warmth and weather coverage
  • Adjustable hem and cuff locks in a reliable fit with ease
  • Brushed tricot chin guard offers face-saving comfort and warmth

Great jacket

I’m a mountain guide and have been wearing shell jackets for over 50 years and this jacket is the best (and one of the most inexpensive) I’ve used. Because of the stretchiness of the material one can have a closer fit than with a conventional shell. Initially, I bought it too big and sent it back for a smaller size. I’ve used it in summer and for all my ski touring this winter, always with a rucksack and have no bobbling or signs of wear so I think that others who have this problem must have abrasive rucksack straps. Even with lots of layers underneath, including a duvet, it is still comfortable. Its lightness and packability are good for space in rucksack. I like the lack of rustling and flexibility. Hood is comfortable and spacious. It could do with an adjustment at the back of the hood to raise the peak for better visibility. Pockets are generous and work when wearing a harness and rucksack. It will be interesting to see how long it can continue to perform and see whether it can outlast goretex garments.

A good jacket but not

A good jacket but not a great one. It needs to be zipped up to the neck but when you do it takes a while or even longer getting used to so initially uncomfortable but give it a while and your persistence will be rewarded.

Well made. Lightweight but still

Well made. Lightweight but still warm and windproof. Bought large to allow layering...but have worn with just T shirt as not too bulky. Sleeves great with velcro fastening. Colour I would say as shown.

Thumbs up from me

A massive thumbs up from me. I bought 2 months ago and only got to wear today in the rain. Does exactly what it’s meant to, kept me dry. I’m in a wheelchair now but still use Rab like I did when in the mountains. Just ordered the same in the pant today.

Only a week in and

Only a week in and it’s one of the comfiest jackets I’ve worn! Because it’s so soft and stretchy it doesn’t make any noise like a hardshell. The pockets are large and comfy and the hood system works well but I’d probably wear one of my more abrasive resistant jackets when climbing, so the helmet sized hood is not always necessary as it can’t be cinched down for full protection as well as others. Completely wind proof. Rain mostly beads but does wet out (not getting through though) in places. This seems to be more common with newer eco-jackets, maybe something to get used to? All in all a lovely jacket to wear. Well done Rab! If performance changes, I will post a longer term review.

“Beluga” colour is actually navy

Good product other than the colour being way off. In two minds about wether to return or keep.

Excellent product. I was unsure

Excellent product. I was unsure if it would be robust to deal with heavy rain & it did very well when I was caught in a downpour. Love the elasticity & the lightness of it. Well made & designed

New Go-to jacket

I bought a Kinetic jacket to replace my old go-to jacket. The Kinetic has proved to be waterproof and windproof, comfortable to wear, light and packable. Great Jacket and my new go-to item. Recommended

Wonderfully comfy, light, wind- and

Wonderfully comfy, light, wind- and water-proof. Almost rustle free, so wearing the hood doesn't mask noise around me. Packs up really small. Have ripped two holes in my first one already - hawthorn and brambles can do it, so I bought another, which tells you something.
