Why We Like The Pivot Switchblade Pro X0 Transmission Mountain Bike
From flow trails to rocky, technical chutes, the Pivot Switchblade is the Swiss Army Knife of bikes perfectly suited to excel on most trails. With 142mm of DW-Link suspension travel, the Switchblade lands in that gray area between an enduro bike and an aggressive trail bike. Dual 29-inch wheels and a lightweight carbon frame give us a bike that skips through rougher terrain and carries our speed efficiently on the flatter trails. Pivot revised the Switchblade this year, giving us updated, more capable geometry to allow the switchblade to be more composed on higher-speed, steeper trails. The new Switchblade features a slacker headtube angle for more capability in steeper terrain, size-specific chainstay lengths for optimal balance and agility for all frame sizes, and a steeper seat tube angle for a more efficient climbing position. A Flip Chip in the rear shock link allows us to adjust the bike's geometry to make it longer, lower, and slacker for more capability and confidence at the bike park or on more aggressive terrain. The Flip Chip also allows us to run a 27.5-inch rear wheel without any after-market parts or compatibility issues, allowing us to make our switchblade more agile and have more clearance with a mixed-wheel setup. Additional features on the Switchblade include Integrated downtube and chainstay protectors to keep our frame protected from our chain and rocks on the trail, while the front triangle can accommodate two water bottle cages through the use of Pivot's Tool Dock system to keep us hydrated.
The Pro X0 Transmission build of the Pivot Switchblade has everything we need to take our performance to the next level. To start out, Pivot's lightweight carbon fiber frame is made with premium materials and built to the highest quality, giving us one of the lightest and most reliable frames on the market. Next, the Fox Factory Float X is lightweight, features multiple adjustments so we can tune our ride quality, and has a custom tune from Pivot for enhanced ride quality. The Fox Factory Float 36, 160mm fork, has tons of compression and rebound adjustments and eats up big hits as we plunge down technical descents. DT Swiss XM1700 aluminum rims give us a lightweight and durable wheelset for a confidence and performance boost, and DT Swiss 350 hubs provide us with quality performance and an upgradeable internal ratchet system to enhance our engagement later on if needed. To wrap it all together, the Switchblade is fitted with premium Maxxis DHF and DHRII tires to give us the traction and grip required for aggressive trail and enduro riding.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
