Trigrest Hand Rest

Use the Petzl Trigrest Hand Rest when you need to cross over or choke up before a big move. The Trigrest improves your grip on your handle-less ice axe, so you won't have to worry about dropping it. Since it has a tool-less adjustment system, it's easy to slide this hand rest up and out of the way when you need the shaft to go in deep on alpine climbs. In the low position, this hand rest provides a brace for your index to boost grip strength and planting precision. The Trigrest works with the Petzl Ride, Glacier, Glacier Literide, Summit, Sum'tec. and Gully, and it weighs 15 grams.

  • A hand rest piece for improving grip on ice axes
  • Sturdy construction keeps piece intact longer
  • Adjusts for preferred use
  • Tools not needed in order to adjust height of rest

Great Piece of Gear

I've used it several times

Although a little pricey, I bought two of these and put one on a Ride and one on a Summit. Not an essential item, but one of those things that just bumps my setup up a notch. I don't slide it up all the way, but leave enough space under the pick to easily fit a gloved finger for piolet canne/panne/poignard. It also makes for a good grip grasping the shaft under the head with one finger over the Trigrest and the others below. In the lower position, it just gives me added security and lets me ease up on my grip, meaning less fatigue.

Works well, check compatibility in store

I've used it several times

This product does what it should- provides an adjustable hand rest that you can count on when you're hanging on it. It was easy to attach to my ice axe (the Petzl Summit Evo), but was obviously not meant to be used on this model. The rubber grip and widened handle make it impossible to slide it all the way below the pick, as you can do on the standard Summit 2. Not a deal breaker, but definitely an inconvenience. It would have been nice to have more info from Petzl about the compatibility with different models of the Summit line.

Any idea if this would fit on an old Petzl Aztarex?

Will this fit on other manufacturers' axes? Specifically looking at putting this on a Grivel Air Tech Evo as it seems like a better solution than Grivel's Slider
