    • Nose shape of the straight gate is designed to facilitate easy anchor clipping
    • Bent gate features String webbing protection to keep the biner in position for easy clipping

    Alpine draw go to carabiners!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have a few alpine draws that have the carabiners in the straight and bent gate and I love them! Simple to use, feel quality and the gates are pretty east to open while clipping. Would recommend to anyone looking to make a alpine draw.

    My favorite non locking carabiner

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love these things. They are light, feel good in the hand, and have a very positive gate action (better than BDs flagship Positron carabiner I think). However, 1 star gets taken off, not for performance, but for price. At 10 bucks a pop, Petzl charges a pretty penny for a non-locker. For those who are budget sensitive, forgo the slightly more positive gate action and get the 3 dollar cheaper BD Positron. It gets the job done magnificently as well.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have several quick draws made up of these carabiners. Nice and smooth action through the gates. They open up super wide making it easy to clip in your rope. Love these guys and think you cant go wrong with these!

    I use it for rappeling

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

it works great for what I do considering I don't have all the proper gear yet. but the gate is a large size making it easy to clip and its very smooth when I use it to descend on rappels. bent gate also makes it easy to click on rope.

    A Spirited Fellow

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought a few of these in bent and straight gates to make some draws for myself and they are definitely my favorite so far. Other carabiners I have tried either don't have the snap action I want or don't open as wide as I need and thus become problematic. The Spirit makes clipping a breeze and is still lightweight enough that I enjoy using these draws. There is something about a good carabiner that when you reach down on your rack and see it in your hand, you get a little more excited, and these carabiners do that every time.

    Great Carabiner

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've bought the straight and bent gate carabiners to piece together my own draws while these were on sale. They're by far my favorite draws to use. Easy to hear them snap from the ground and the gates are very smooth.

    Great Carabiner

My Favorite Carabiner, Now Even Better.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

For years I have loved using the Petzl Spirit Carabiner, so when Petzl came out with the new model I was very curious, and I needed to try it out. I have been very pleased with it's performance. It has the same great feel as the old Spirit, but it is way lighter. If you liked using the Spirit before, you will love using it now.
