Shunt Ascender
Primarily intended for backup on longer rappels, the Petzl Shunt Ascender adds an extra degree of safety in lieu of a prusik. It works on both single and double ropes, and its smooth clamping surface attaches to ropes easily and won't damage your favorite rope. Additionally, the Shunt Ascender works for top rope soloing on routes without overhangs.
