Why We Like The Quest Amfib Jacket
As the warmest jacket in the Pearl Izumi lineup, we reach for the Quest Amfib to extend our cycling season through the depths of winter. Whipping winds are no match for Pearl's AmFIB 3-layer softshell, which offers total wind protection and comes with a DWR coating that fends off light precipitation as well. We like that this jacket comes in a relaxed fit too, letting us layer properly for temps in the teens.

Have bought these since the 00s.

I have bought these jackets for many years. They are my go to running top from November through March. I wear them with an outer insulated jacket (Tracksmith NDO) when it is -20 -- 10, with a windbreaker when it is 10-35, and by themselves when it is warmer than that. I put them in the other closet when the temperature gets much above forty. I have the first one I bought. I love the full zip which allows me to adjust temperature. Love it when I can buy them on sale.

Warm but difficult

While the jacket is warm and comfortable, I'd advise against buying. First, only 1 rear pocket makes things very difficult. It's hard enough to get into pockets with full finger gloves, but reaching behind to unzip is nearly impossible. OK - my bad, I should have thought of that one. On the other hand, the rear pocket is extremely difficult to zip closed when holding a few things. At times, it's been necessary to take the jacket off to close the zipper. If these 2 issues would ever bother you, go for it! On the other hand, if you ride competitively, this jacket will slow you down.
