It's hard to beat the basics.

Your buddies are all about bright kits and colorful bibs, and while you might have a pair hiding in the back of your closet, you prefer the classic black bib for every day rides — and we don't blame you. The clean aesthetic of black bibs go with any jersey, and with options like the Pearl Izumi ELITE Pursuit Bib Shorts that feature supportive and breathable fabrics, and a chamois that can stand up to long and arduous miles in the saddle so you can happily pedal away for hours, we wouldn't be surprised if you want to load your cycling wardrobe up with nothing but the basics.

The ELITE Pursuit Bib Shorts begin their life with panels of ELITE Transfer In-R-Cool fabric, coupled with coldblack technology that reflects heat to keep you comfortable when the temps rise, while wicking away moisture to keep you comfortable on toasty summer rides. The bib straps are constructed from light and breathable mesh, while the leg bands feature raw edge that transitions smoothly from your leg to bib, with silicone grip to keep the hem comfortably in place without pinching. The shorts are finished with Pearl Izumi's ELITE Pursuit 1:1 Chamois with high density cushioning, a moisture-wicking backing, and a smooth, stretchy top layer to keep you comfortable and dry without unnecessary bulk.

    • Basic black bibs with not-so-basic construction
    • Anatomic panels hug your muscles for support
    • In-R-Cool fabric with Coldblack technology fights heat
    • Support your sit bones with a multi-density chamois
    • Mesh upper bib lets your skin breathe, and wicks sweat
    • Raw edge hem creates a smooth transfer for clean aesthetic
    • Spandex gripper secures hem in place
    • Stay visible in low light with reflective details

    Good but not perfect

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 160lbs

I read a lot of reviews on these bibs and I feel like they are not all so good. I'm tall and slim, not skinny. My legs are not that muscular but you can see some muscles there. Yes, the leg band is loose on some areas but, dudes, get on the bike and notice if they are loose again. They are not. Biking clothing is made to look good on you while on the bike not when walking. I have the Large size and after fist try-on I feel like the back straps could be more elastic but this is it, I hope with time they will be more loose. Maybe PI should consider add more material on the straps or to make it more elastic. My only hope is that the chamois will perform on long rides.

    Does not fit.

I would think that someone at competitive would try these on and say that the leg openings are way too big. I have fairly good-sized quads so someone with thinner legs they will never fit.

    great bibs

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

First time with bib shorts and they are great. Fit is snug the way it should be. Have used the Elite shorts for years and the bibs are better, Padding is good for all day rides. Won't be going back to shorts. Use the sizing chart, not what you have worn before.

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 165lbs

Probably good quality chamois and the material seems quality but the loose material at the bottom of the legs? Strange design there. I don't think I would have liked that on rides even if they fit. Medium was too small - bib straps felt like they needed to be a couple of inches longer.

    Very Nice

This is my second pair of Pearls. I am new to road cycling and find it hard to pull the trigger on shorts that are over $100. Now that I have I am so glad I did. There is no comparison between the $50 shorts and these bibs. I could feel the difference in the pad from the shorts to the bib the second I sat on my saddle. It was a great buy when I purchased the bibs and I will be getting more in the future. I did buy a little smaller than i should have but I am hoping to get back to a weight that is more my normal.

    Works well for me

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've worn multiple versions of the PI Elite Pursuit bib shorts over the years and this one is my favorite. I see there are a few complaints about the new silicone grip and the raw hem, but I love 'em -- it's probably a personal preference. I've had other brand bib shorts with the same approach and yeah, depending on your leg shape the grip fabric may not be snug (which you'll only notice above 60kph when it flaps). For me, the PI shorts fit more snugly so that give this model an edge over some competitive offerings. Chamois is fine, not the fanciest but works well for all day rides. I'm 5'11" and 155lbs and medium fits well.

Very loose at bottom of short

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size

I have worn Pearl shorts for years. These have a different lower leg that replaces the usual elastic gripper with a loose band of non-stretchy fabric. I have big quads. These shorts fit tight everywhere else but the lower leg band is loose.

    Excellent products

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: large
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 200lbs

I'm 5'11'', 200 lbs., muscular build so I have to be careful with certain brands. I always buy pearl izumi shorts, tops, and jackets though I have to be careful of the fit as well, I do prefer to buy clothes from the elite category. This item I am returning because I did not like the cut compared to a bib short that was from the select catergory.

Nice, but big in the legs

    • Size Bought: Medium

Not unlike the older version I tried as well, the 10" legs are just too wide near the knee & stick out some. Also, they've got an inch wide rubber band sewn on the hem with gripper stuff on it. These bibs are well-made, but you'd need to be taller & have wider legs than me to have them fit just right.

I have worn Pearl shorts for years. These have a different lower leg that replaces the usual elastic gripper with a loose band of non-stretchy fabric.. These shorts fit ok everywhere else but the lower leg band is baggy/loose.
