    Escape the sun.

You know the old joke: if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, etc. Well, just because you protect yourself from the sun with the Patagonia Duckbill Camp doesn't mean you're going to turn into a mobile mallard. This ultra-light cap dries in a flash, and its mesh panels prevent your head from pruning from excess sweat. The Coolmax sweatband keeps your eyes free from drips.

    Keep it cool

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I had been looking for a good hat that I can take running or on tours, and this Duckbill Cap works like a charm! Perfect size and shape, and doesn't get in the way, but still keeps the sun out! Super light and breathable, and it can pack down pretty small, in case you need to throw it in a pack. Great for casual wear as well.

    Perfect for trail running

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

In order to keep myself from seeing just how dauntingly long an uphill is when I'm running, I wear big hats. I have waist-length, thick hair that retains a lot of heat no matter the weather. I've been running in truckers' hats for years in order to have some ventilation but the mesh of the duckbill is far preferable. This hat can easily pack anywhere - any bag or waistband.

    Interesting hat

It's an interesting hat, so I don't want to be discouraging, keep um coming Patagonia. Here's the cons though. The mesh on top is a good idea, but it's surprisingly thick and slightly heavy compared to other running style hats. It being all white isn't the greatest either, kind of clashes with the front and will be prone to discoloring. The brim is unshapable, so it either sits right or it doesn't, you can't mold or bend it. It's fits my wife better than me. She likes it. I look like a seven year old in it, and it feels a little heavy on me.

      My new favorite.

Well, I love the duckbill series so this purchase was kind of a no-brainer. However, I have a ton of hair and often sweat through my duckbill trucker, which makes me feel like I've got the Florida Everglades going on in my hat (and is pretty unpleasant). My husband kept telling me that I would probably like this hat more than the trucker version, so I took his out for a long bout the other day and was thoroughly impressed. I also own the visor and absolutely love it (because visors and high pony tails are the coolest and totally underrated in terms of comfort) but I think this might be my new favorite go-to. The brim seems slightly larger than the original duckbill cap (which my husband owns), but I'll take more face shade any day of the week! Picked up the piton colorway and it's spunky as all heck. Reminds me of my dad's old running cap, for sure.

      Best running hat

This hat is just like my dad used to wear. Comfortable, well ventilated, stashable, and does a great job keeping sweat/sun out of your eyes. I use this for long trail running days in the heat. When it gets dirty I just toss it in the washing machine with my other running clothes and comes out like new every time. With all of the new colors I am going to pick up a couple more for my collection.

        Patagonia maintains standards

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This product is just as well constructed as it was in the 80's. I use it for running on hot days, breathes because of ventilated panels, it offers glare and sun protection even though it is short billed.

        best hat ever

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This hat is sweet, it's super breathable, very lightweight and is a great fit. It's great for running, wearing under a climbing helmet and looks good enough to show off while walking the dog around town. Thanks Patagonia for absolutely killing it with this hat.

        Perfect Noggin Mate

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love it. I primarily use this hat for running. I've used many hats with mesh panels and others with a light material/short brim. The combination here is perfect. Keeps your head cool, fits very comfortably and never gets in your way. It's almost easy to forget you have it on.

I have two of these now, all other running hats I own have made it into the donation bag.

        Absolutely worth buying.

        Hat for just about anything.

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This hat has been with me climbing, running, biking, hiking, on date nights with the wife, fishing and just about anywhere you can think of. I love it.

        Hat for just about anything.

        Hot Weather Hat

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Running in the South in the summer requires two things...breathability and coverage. This hat has them both. Normally I wear trucker style hats to run in but they start getting a bit hot when the temperature reaches 90. Tried going without but sweat and sun in the eyes is not a good thing. This hat provided the protection I wanted with the breathability I needed.

Another great feature I wasn't expecting is its packability. Shove it in a bag or in the pocket of your running shorts and it comes out ready to wear!

        exactly what you'd expect

Great light weight running hat. Lots of air flow and the bill is the perfect size and sits at the perfect angle to keep the sun off your eyes. Also great for those looking to hold back the flowing locks and keep them off your face. Very Simple, and functional.
