    Perfect for thru axle bikes

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a very high quality tool that makes it super easy to remove cassettes on thru axle wheel bikes. Can't go wrong with park tools!

    A Much Needed Update

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Long ago (like 30 years) I had a friend weld a skewer length pin through my trusty old FR-5 so I could remove cassettes without fear of the tool slipping off. In this current age of thru-axle, the 12mm pin is a welcome, and much needed update. This tool is even better than it was.

Replacement for my 21 year old FR5

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Park Tool made changes to the FR5 without changing the part number. So when I migrated my drive train to Eagle 12 speed my trusty old cassette ring tool no longer works (the inside depth was too shallow for the new design and couldn't get purchase on the grooves). This particular version has a guide pin which greatly stabilizes and simplifies its use.

Where do these F'n things keep going?!?!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Somehow I continue to lose these things, which is absurd... but 5 stars for being an affordable replacement item. If any of my friends are reading this who borrowed my last 10 cassette tools, can you please bring them back after you buy your own? Thanks.

    The Standard

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The only cassette tool you need, I like the addition on the 12mm pin to keep the tool aligned. Keeps it planted so it doesn’t slip out under force. Another staple tool for the box from Park.

    Keep it straight

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is nice to throw on a cassette, especially these newer one piece things. I like that it keeps the lock ring straight while you're trying to remove or install a cassette. No complaints although if you're doing a lot of work and want to spend a little more money I would suggest the FR-5H. Use this every day.
