GravelKing SK Tire

Designed with a grippy tread and reinforced with Anti-Flat Casing, the Panaracer GravelKing SK Tubeless Tire is your partner-in-crime for adventures down bumpy gravel roads where flats and punctures are common. This tubeless-ready tire in wider casing runs lower in pressure for greater bump compliance and excellent grip across rough gravel and bumpy roads. The ZSG Natural Compound balances low rolling resistance with tread longevity, giving you the best in efficiency and durability along mixed gravel and asphalt surfaces. Please note, this isn't the best tire for muddy conditions, as Panaracer developed a specific version of this tire for sloppy muck.

Nice tires, plenty of tread

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

While I have ent road or trail tested them yet. My visual assessment is that they will be well suited for what I throw at them.

Riding with the King

I've used it several times

I occasionally ride on very well maintained gravel roads that connect tank firing ranges. The SK is the perfect tire for the transitions between gravel & tarmac here. I've ridden the same area with SS in 35c. I've never had an easy time getting either to seat. Both the SK & SS required fiddling with rimtape, cursing, & several hits from an Airshot. Once the torture of breading them is over, they hold air for days. I haven't had a ride stopping puncture with either. This tire is not going to set speed records, but it's quick enough to keep up with B or C groups riders. The tanwall is the perfect shade. Not too yellow or too orange. I'm going to get another set in 43mm for a 3rd wheelset.

Good Gravel Tire

I've put it through the wringer

Gravel riding comes in many forms. This tire is really good if you are sticking to gravel roads and pavement, if you plan on riding in the woods a lot, i would consider something different for added traction.

I've put it through the wringer

I have to say, for all the hype I'm a bit disappointed. I have these in 43mm on a HED Belgium G Plus rim (25mm internal) and they are very heavy and flick rocks everywhere. I eventually became too annoyed by getting rocks in my shoes, hit in the head with little pebbles etc. The weight feels like a boat anchor. Unfortunately, taking them off.

Good traction

I've used it several times

I put about 50 miles on these tires in mixed use of pavement, dirt trail, rocky and rooting trail, and leaf covered trails with a little bit of mud. So far they give good traction in all conditions. There is some slip in mud, which is not a surprise with the short blocks, but they have pulled me through in all cases.

Gravel Flings

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I wanted to love these tires. They seem to be very popular in the gravel community and have a great reputation. They were easy enough to mount and no trouble running them tubeless on my stock WTB wheels. My only real complaint is that they pick up and throw tiny pebbles almost like they were designed to do so. On my first 40 mile ride, I noticed immediately the sounds of little pings off my bike. I assumed once the brand new stickiness of the tire wore off, this would subside. After 40 miles through dirt and dust, they're still flinging rocks much more so than any other tire I've used. I guess I will put a few more miles on them and hope that it calms down. I get the feeling these are better for dirt and muddy conditions and less ideal for someone like me who tends to ride finely packed gravel on a regular basis.

Solid through the DK100

I've put it through the wringer

Just back from DK100 2018 riding the 38s on Stan's wheels tubeless at about 30lbs and these rode perfectly with no flats. A friend with well know tube gravel tire flatted twice in first 10 miles ! I had solid grip in all conditions including tricky climbs where others spun out. We had a significant mud section where only those with huge clearance could ride as the mud stuck to everything, these tires included. But the mud "self cleaned" on gravel downhill. The tread seemed fine on everything. Cleaned them up once home and they look brand new. 6/4/20 Update: Still riding this same pair and they remain great. No sidewall problems, great balance of traction and speed.
